I know Davis has limitations but Teske is unplayable. Start Davis
At least Davis tries. Teske has been a disaster all season.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:06 PM ^
Without livers you have to play both at some point. The rotation is already as tight as it can be.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:07 PM ^
I said start Davis. Not send Teske to Bolivia.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:10 PM ^
You said he's "unplayable."
February 4th, 2020 at 9:12 PM ^
Yes, Teske is unplayable and he will likely be a liability when he’s out there - but the amount he should be out there is maybe 15 minutes tops to limit the damage.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:21 PM ^
Davis getting more minutes would increase his mistakes too. Davis and Teske were both 3 star recruits. Teske is taller and can shoot the 3. I still would start him. But I agree Davis has been playing his ass off.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:23 PM ^
Teske can shoot the 3, but he can’t make a 3. He should never shoot another 3. I would prefer he makes the shots within 4 feet.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:44 PM ^
But he shoots an arrow. lol
February 4th, 2020 at 9:13 PM ^
I understand. I'd prefer Davis, too, at the least he will lay a body on someone and make them earn what they get. Im saying, when your rotation is essentially 7 guys including DDJ getting sparse minutes, it doesn't really matter who starts. It just is what it is at this point.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:22 PM ^
Exactly. Howard has been giving Davis a lot of minutes anyways so it’s not like starting Davis would change much
February 4th, 2020 at 9:07 PM ^
Teske sucks. Can’t wait for him to be gone. Did great for the program but it’s a new era now. Davis is not viable on defense. Castleton also sucks. There’s a reason why Juwan chided Teske at halftime for being soft. Molly McGrath mentioned it.
Get these Beilein development skinny players off the team and bring in some actual athletes.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:09 PM ^
Really hate to say it, but JH is supposed to be the Big man whisperer.
Kinda like the other JH was supposed to be the QB whisperer.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:12 PM ^
I'm glad that JH and JH are here but.....our hoops team has taken a step backwards. Teske and Simpson are not the same players they were a year ago. I know we lost some great players, but they appear to have no confidence.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:14 PM ^
Teske and Simpson are the same players, theyre just forced into roles they can't handle this year.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:38 PM ^
It helps if you have D1 ability-both have significant limitations. Juwan is stuck with these two. Beilein left for more reasons than simply getting a pro gig.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:44 PM ^
How many more games does Michigan win this year with Iggy? 6? 7?
February 5th, 2020 at 10:24 AM ^
It kind of sucks that Iggy, Poole and Beilein are with three of the worst teams in the NBA competing for nothing when had they been here they likely would have won a Big Ten title.
February 5th, 2020 at 8:51 AM ^
I have a legitimate question regarding the change in Teske's use. I haven't watched enough to notice how his role has changed. I've definitely noticed a difference in Simpson, as he is being asked to create instead of directing and taking care of the ball.
What is the difference in what is being asked of Teske this year vs. last year?
February 5th, 2020 at 11:12 AM ^
The most obvious difference is him getting plenty of dump it in the post opportunities. He's had some good moments posting up, but also some not-so-good moments. It's not his offensive strength. He was *very* good in JB's pick and roll game, but he's just not a premier post-move player.
I'll actually throw this hot take out there - Austin Davis has much more refined offensive post moves than Teske. His footwork is excellent.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:33 PM ^
They’re being forced into a system they didn’t sign up to play for. They played in a system catered to them for three years and are now being asked to learn something new.
What are you expecting?
February 4th, 2020 at 9:12 PM ^
Howard got it out of Davis. Teske and Castelton are just soft as shit.
February 5th, 2020 at 12:02 AM ^
What makes you think Colin is soft? Dude is still a string bean
February 4th, 2020 at 9:20 PM ^
Teske was a 3 star recruit. He’s been the same since his freshman year. The problem is this team lacks talent and losing livers hurts a shit ton.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:08 PM ^
Pump the brakes there pal
February 4th, 2020 at 9:08 PM ^
teske is awful. slow, unathletic and misses more layups than any 7 footer i’ve ever watched. just sad
February 4th, 2020 at 9:18 PM ^
Which other 7-footers have you watched and what are their layup percentages?
February 4th, 2020 at 9:33 PM ^
Hmm. I said this exact thing a couple weeks ago and got negged AF. I see you guys finally agree with me. I’m just sayin.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:44 PM ^
Here’s another neg for good measure.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:11 PM ^
Have to agree, and as of right now there are NO NBA players on the roster.
Some freshmen may be in the future, but right this minute NONE.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:19 PM ^
And that might be a blessing in disguise because the returning experience with the incoming class could make for an amazing 2020-2021 season. At the end of the day this team wasn’t expected to do much preseason.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:19 PM ^
Livers probably makes it
February 4th, 2020 at 10:18 PM ^
He most certainly will get a shot. 6’7 and has proven to be a +40% 3pt shooter.
February 4th, 2020 at 11:59 PM ^
There is, at minimum, one NBA player and as much as four.
Wagner is a no doubt about it NBA player. Livers has a great shot at being a three and D guy. Johns has good athleticism and as he keeps developing and works on his confidence his game will round out. Jury’s still out on Castelton, another year in Camp Sanderson could do wonders.
None of these guys are going to be Giannis but to say there are no NBA players on this team is incorrect
February 4th, 2020 at 9:11 PM ^
So teske actually went up and dunked the ball for like the first time in his career against Rutgers, then he goes back in this game to being a soft coward and misses 20 layups and gets bullied by players half his size around the rim.. just insane how bad he has regressed under howard..
February 4th, 2020 at 9:30 PM ^
Haha regressed under Howard haha
February 4th, 2020 at 10:24 PM ^
Being soft isn't a coaching issue.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:11 PM ^
Zavier has been awful too, he was never great and sometimes good. Sad that coach has to teach our players how to stay inside of a damn rectangle. The gel for this team has gone out the window throughout the season.
I’m being harsh cause I’m hungry and upset at the game. Zavier does well in keeping us in games but I feel like too often we lose games cause of him turning over the ball with a foul or doing something silly.
February 4th, 2020 at 10:39 PM ^
Grab one of these:
February 5th, 2020 at 1:44 AM ^
Zavier might be our best three point shooter now.... I have confidence when he shoots it... Brooks less...the rest, not so much.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:12 PM ^
The reliable players has been narrowed down to Johns, Wagner, and Brooks. And even that isn't solid. Livers would be trusted.
DDJ and Castleton haven't stepped up yet.
Davis is an ok backup but is more physical and plays harder than Teske.
And thats about it. The team just isn't talented.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:20 PM ^
*whittled
February 4th, 2020 at 9:43 PM ^
2-12 and 3-12 are “reliable”????? What are you smoking?
February 5th, 2020 at 7:21 AM ^
Hence my last point. The team just isn't that talented. Those kind of stats from your starters is telling.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:15 PM ^
Hot take, that is no longer very hot, Davis is better then Teske.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:16 PM ^
This is just a bad team. It is what it is.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:21 PM ^
I remember you saying that after the Rutger game.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:45 PM ^
Rutgers played Michigan very poorly-they devoted far too much attention to limiting Simpson and that is not the way to beat Michigan.
February 4th, 2020 at 9:51 PM ^
For the record, Rutgers sucks too
Everyone can throw them a parade for beating Purdue at home, but they haven't beaten a team worth a damn. They're just an unathletic and bad shooting version of VCU under Shaka. Will run out of gas if they make it past one round of the post season
February 5th, 2020 at 1:17 AM ^
False, they beat 12th ranked Seton Hall by 20 and they beat 20th ranked Penn State
February 4th, 2020 at 9:17 PM ^
Teske and Davis are very similar but Teske can shoot the 3. Teske struggles when he guards big men with a pulse. Davis is good but he struggles too. We don’t notice his struggles because he doesn’t play as many minutes as Teske. Oh well bad season and livers not coming back anytime soon. Try to upset Michigan state on Saturday but regardless I think we probably not making the NCAA tourney. Just gotta wait for next years class to judge Howard. 2019-2020 has been a terrible year for Michigan athletics...
February 4th, 2020 at 9:20 PM ^
i thought we would need to win tonite or saturday to still have a chance at the dance. it's going to be tougher, but a medicore wisky beat sparty. need to hit near 40% or better from 3 to have a chance, imo. not this under 30 bullshit we've seen since livers went out.
