I've Decided Weis has to go...

Caution: This is a Rant At the start of the year my wish for Weis was a 9-3 year... not good enough for BCS bowl "OMG We Are Back to Dominance" but not bad enough for "Fire Weis" chants at their last home game. Then he gets to stay and our chances of beating ND each year with Weis are better than most potential replacements But, Jesus, get control of your football leader. What a whiny, complaining, excuse ridden, sore loser. And talk about a hypocrite. Now I want him fired because he deserves a 8-4/7-5 season to shut him up and remove him from anything Michigan related. He's not defending his team... he's lashing out at ours. He has shifted (some)focus to anti-UM spin. UM cheats, UM punches, UM manipulates the clock, UM has pull with cheating Big 10 refs, etc. I have never seen any Big 10 coach act like this in defeat. Even JoePa's "Refs were horrible" tirades were single-issues. Not a laundry list of excuses. He's like that rich fancy-pants cousin you had to hang out with 1-time a year during the Holidays that would run to Grandma as soon as he lost to you in checkers... crying, demanding a new game, and relentlessly bitching for the next two days for a rematch. But F him, you still won at checkers! And you known what? Grandma always knew he was a dick and that you won fair. EDIT: Go Sparty this weekend

Ignore Weis or laugh at him, and enjoy the many victories over Notre Dame in the meantime. That said, the Irish fanbase seems pretty over the guy right now, and he may not keep his job if they don't whip the rest of their non-USC schedule.

As much as I would love for Chubby Chuck to be the ND coach for as long as possible, this is getting really old. I was just annoyed when he was complaining about the officials, but now that he is suggesting the UM players punched his, I want him out bc there is no excuse for that... that's right Charlie "NO EXCUSES". I think sparty might give them a shock simply because their coach hasn't moved on and prepared his team, oh and they have big ten officials to overcome too. However, if they do go 8-5 or 7-4 they will probably be playing in (insert hotel name here) bowl, dominate an inferior team, think they are God's gift to football, and we'll be in the same spot next year because we ruined their chances. MOVE ON CHARLIE!

I have seen the same stuff you have, and I see something completely different: Cognitive dissonance. Weis says one thing and then magically all kinds of contradictory appears from everywhere: MSM, blogs, twitter. The guy is a spin doctor (you probably have to be to keep your job at ND, especially with given his performance.) As a result, I started a tumblelog to document how his message is undermined by, you know, reality. http://heycharlieweis.tumblr.com/

Does anybody else think Weis may be playing for the calls down the road? Weis conplains now, reaps the fruits by getting calls his way later. He can still win out, that was a very good team Mich beat sat. Just my thoughts,I could be wrong.

I was with you until: "He's like that rich fancy-pants cousin you had to hang out with 1-time a year during the Holidays that would run to Grandma as soon as he lost to you in checkers... crying, demanding a new game, and relentlessly bitching for the next two days for a rematch. But F him, you still won at checkers! And you known what? Grandma always knew he was a dick and that you won fair." Maybe it's me, but this one made me laugh. Fancy-pants cousin?? Heh, that's quite the analogy. You must have some interesting family reunions......

To Hell With Front Butt (I find that sometimes it is quicker to make it a single word: "frobu" (long u on that). Also "What Would Front Butt (or Frobu) Do?" works as a nice alternative to "What Would Tim Tebow Do?".

I'll start by saying that I agree with your assessment of Charlie Weis. He is a distasteful human being. He is a whiny egotistical coach who costs his team games. The decision to throw the ball on second down this past weekend wasn't a bad one as a first down ends the game, but he made a terrible decision to throw the bomb. He called that solely to stick it to Michigan. I hate everything about him and everything else being equal I would root for him to lose every game the rest of his career. That said, Notre Dame has a TON of talent right now. Floyd and Tate are outstanding, and their first receiver off the bench when Floyd was hurt was a 5-star recruit. With a senior qb next year, experienced line, and a halfway-decent coach, they will be a force. Having Charlie Weis there helps Michigan get to one more win each year, and really that is what I care about.

I always try to respond to posts with some research and facts but sense your entire post is based on your opinion I will just give you mine. I would guess you have not watched full press conference done by Weis ever. You formed your opinion based on maybe a snippet of video, but the majority probably came from sports columns and message board postings. Those sports columns all being either the local or espn variety, short sighted and often uninformed. (it happens pretty often). And the message board postings quite literally speak for themselves, they're derived from the same sports articles already mentioned. So all I hear is fail.

You would find Weis a whiny, arrogant prima donna if he was not YOUR whiny, arrogant prima donna. 'All you hear is fail' because of your allegiance. And that's cool. Support your coach. But while ND fans may find him hilarious and profound, I think there is a near-consensus among everyone else that he is sort of obnoxious. And I have listened to press conferences at length and not had that opinion disturbed. He is just a very self-satisfied and arrogant person. Period. People love that when accompanied with wild success. And if Charlie's story ends up with a happy ending it will not just be ND fans that find his arrogance charming. Right now, though, they're it.
