How many pitch invaders will we see at the Big House on Sat?

Having trouble embedding the vine, but tons of fans were everywhere in the Real Madrid - Roma friendly in Dallas.

Pitch invaders are rare. It takes a special kind of guts (and lots of alcohol) for someone to run out on a pitch where everyone can see them get pummeled by security, but there were lots of special people at the Real Madrid-Roma preseason friendly in Dallas. With the match nearing completion, dozens of fans took to the pitch. First, it was just one fan, but emboldened by that one fan's disregard for order, another ran on the pitch. Then a pair followed, and before long there were fans all over the pitch. It was a mass, uncoordinated pitch invasion for no reason except that running around on the pitch while your favorite players are annoyed and pissed off at you is apparently a fun thing to do.

This isn't rushing the field.

I guess let me clarify - If one looney English dude streaked with some website URL painted on his back, I'd laugh at it.  I'd definitely laugh when he gets tackled or tazed bro.

But I would hate to see something like in the vine below.

From a player safety perspective, this is unacceptable.  Especially when you have 9-figure investments in players like Gareth Bale.

Looked like a lot of these 'invaders' were kids, however.  But fines, heck even short jailtime would be appropriate.  Certainly for their 'parents'.

When did I advocate beating the crap or tasing these kid invaders?  At the same time, where the hell are there parents?  These 'parents" sure have done a shitty job if their kids are running onto a field, where both players and security have every right to restrain them, as physically as warranted.

At the same time, do you remember when Monica Seles was stabbed on court during a match?  Lots of hahas there.

Real Madrid bought Gareth Bale, Christiano Ronaldo, and James Rodriguez for over $100 million each.  They have a right to protect their investment in the players

Not sure, but word on the street is that Cristiano Ronaldo will NOT be invading the pitch himself. He sat out last night against Roma when they played in Dallas.

Take it for what it's worth.

This must have been the 2003 game.  I had a snapshot in my photo album of the fans who rushed the field afterwards, and Lucinda asked "why is everyone out on the pitch?"  Fast forward 10+ years and that field will actually be a pitch, at least for one match.

Wow. That pussy kicked his legs to try and take him down. You could seriously hurt someone like that. As a side note: unless your law enforcement you need to ignore streakers and anyone else running on the field. It baffles me whenever a player, coach, or anyone else "helps" subdue a fan. Your asking for a lawsuit by doing this.

Also, if you ever get a chance, watch the document on YouTube about Fütbol Hooligans. It was during World Cup in Germany. They are litererally CRAZY!

We were there.  Most were kids and they were just escorted off.  They were rougher with the adults.

Half were out to meet the players, get a signature, get a pic...the others went straight toward Ronaldo.  Nobody really got that close to him before they were intercepted.

The security at the game was pretty weak.
