How did BBQ at the Big House go?

Submitted by aflapan on
Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone had some idea on how the BBQ at the Big House went? I saw the Twitter posts, but there didn't seem to be any commits. This seemed weird since there always used to be a few commitments in the previous years, and ace was apparently going to be glued to his computer with the hello posts ready.

I'd almost prefer it that way. The elite guys aren't really ever going to commit spur of the moment, and there's nothing wrong with taking some time to mull it over for everyone else. We've had a couple guys spur of the moment commit only to spur of the moment decommit shortly after when another school wows them. I wouldn't be surprised if the coaches actually tell guys to hold off and sleep on it in some cases.

It supposedly went very well with Najee Harris. According to most of the sites, we're legitimately in the running for him now.

I often find that someone will look or act slightly off and I ask myself "Is there something wrong with that person?"   Almost always there is and then I feel bad about judging their behavior/appearance/whatever as odd.

Me:  "Hey,  you seem to be limping.  You hurt your self this weekend?"

Person: "No.  I have a congenital hip displagia (sp?) and have always limped, but it is getting worse as the cancer seems to be making me weaker."

Me: "Oh.   So no crazy snowboarding accident or anything?"

So you feel perfectly comfortable making judgements about someone's capacity without ever talking to them? Thanks a lot, asshole. You're the reason I've been passed over for jobs and avoided for conversation because I've got a facial paralysis.

I hope you never have to suffer the indignity of people assuming less of you before they get within 10 feet of you, because it sucks.

You're taking this way too personally.  Everyone judges people by what they see.  It's human nature and it doesn't make me or anyone else an asshole.

As to your situation, if someone came into an interview with a partially paralyzed face it would have no effect on my hiring decision as long as said person was qualified for the job.

But I'm not hiring anyone with those stupid fucking plugs in their ears.

If you identify as part of a frequently prejudged group of people, you must take EVERYTHING personally. I realize that nothing racist was said, but just shift this about a quarter inch in your mind, and you can see why judging ANYONE before you speak to them is a big problem.

If I mentioned to my wife that this made you feel offended, she'd feel bad.  Since I really don't care what you feel or think, I'll not say anything.  However, I feel sometimes people have "the look".  Poggi may or may not have been going for it.  However, he looks hilarious.  I love him for it.

I heard that people thought the tomato based bbq sauce used this year was better than the vinegar based sauce that was used last year, although several of the recruits prefered the vinegar based bbq sauce, so this was debated extensively.

To be fair, you can absolutely commit under those circumstances, but you typical commit tweet looks far less dramatic or appealing when it is a photo of what appears to be the bathroom stall door saying that it has committed to the University Of Michigan. I don't know that it is just as interesting to cover as event at that point.
