As much as I love a good Ohio ass-kicking, I hate it when 12 year old's get their asses kicked even if they're from Ohio. When my son was 12, his team (from Illinois) went to Cooperstown and played teams from California and Georgia and got shellacked in every game. In one game, the score was 15-0 after the first inning. Just brutal.

So I think the announcer said both teams advance to Williamsport? So they must be having the Little League World Series without teams from other countries because of Covid?

Here's a little LLWS trivia: A Michigan alum coached the team from Pearland, Texas in 2015 to come in third. If you follow the LLWS, you may remember him as the super tall guy with the dread locks.

We got the win over Ohio, right?

I missed this thread while watching the Tigers on TV and the Bay County MI vs Puerto Rico pony league World Series game on my phone.

The Bay County team's manager Jim Butts is my older sister's brother-in-law. They just lost 3-2 on a pair of tight plays at the plate and will now have to fight back through the loser bracket.

They actually did show a picture of Steve Avery meeting the team on the broadcast, and one of the kids on the team said Steve Avery was his favorite baseball player during the pregame introductions.

It will be interesting to see how this team does in Williamsport. They hit really well all week, but the southern/western teams are on an entirely different level.

Frankly, its surprising Taylor doesn't send more teams to Indianapolis. A good LL runs on social capital, and for youth baseball Taylor has a *lot* of social capital.

My son started his LL play in Redford and we ran into the Taylor buzz saw when he was 8. Big postseason tournament for the little ones and the 4 Taylor teams - wonder if they still have 4 - didn't lose a single game to non-Taylor teams.

We moved to Berkley, and at 12 saw Taylor - not sure which one, maybe East? - at the state tourney in Harper Woods. Was *most* pleasing to beat them.

Taylor North has their opening LLWS game tomorrow, Friday at 3pm on ESPN.

As questioned and mentioned above, Taylor long had 4 different little leagues - North Central, Northwest, Northeast, and South (which hosts the Junior League World Series.) They merged all of the North leagues now though, which obviously compacts the talent pool significantly. As a result they’ll likely make more runs going forward. At least at the state level. Making it to the LLWS out of Michigan is still incredibly difficult and has only been done 18 times now though.
