Hoke Post-game presser

Submitted by MgoBlueprint on

This is the most distant and detached Hoke has been during his tenure in A2, maybe its because hes now fully aware that "he gone".

What the most struck me as especially odd during the press conference was when someone asked him about Delano Hill. Hoke just gave an awkward series of "yes" and "no's" to the questions about Delano. I think the reporter asked if he was injured or hurt a few different ways. Hoke repeatedly responded with "yes" and "now" before giving way to an awkward smile that keeping from saying something that he may have wanted to.

It was just weird. Did anyone else notice that?

I get that people are frustrated and especially pissed at Hoke for what has happened to the program, but does anyone doubt that he is trying as hard as HE can? The job is just too big for him. I am personally not mad at him, just mad at the situation.

There's no point in berating a guy who gave it his all and failed. Would you be mad at your son/daughter if they tried their best in grad school and just couldn't pass? No, you'd be upset it didn't work out, but you wouldn't be mad at them. At least I wouldn't.

Well no, but a better analogy would be would you take the job as president, provided that you love America, being president is your dream job, and you are a very successful politician already? Then of course. The people around here who think Hoke should have known better than to come here for god knows what reason, or that he ought to abandon him team and just leave, really perplex me.

Obviously, we need to try again to find a coach who will win here.

But here's what I fear: two horrible possibilities to contemplate --

1) what if we again can't find a coach who wants the job, ie seem to get the cold shoulder from our first couple-few overtures?

2) what if instead we score on our first move, Jim Harbaugh comes here, and ...somehow we still suck! (for more than a couple years)?

Now that I know we surely 100% surely will be making the change we need, these are the horrible possibilities that keep me fretting. I think they're both very real possibilities. (What coach can win without a QB, eg? We apparently have no one up to even Gardner this year's low bar...)

These situations happen with ALL big time programs. Look no farther away than ohio. john Cooper caused much consternation amongst ohio fans. Earl Bruce - fired be for the Michigan game. And recently the "vest" fired, the team has a losing season and all hope was lost. They suffered though a losing season. No difference with our situation. It will work out.

There are differences though. Cooper had a great record. I believe Ohio was ranked in the top two in 95 and 96 before being upset by us, and then top 20 in 97. He wasn't let go because he was losing. He was let go because he was losing to Michael. Tressel got fired because he was running that program like he was Saul Goodman in a vest.

Hoke has regressed every season. It's now evident that 2011 was rich rods talent that he managed. Hoke has unable to develop the talent that he brought in.

There is a discernable difference in the firings of our last two coaches and ohios last three.

And plenty who just can't coach. Because you cant do one thing well doesnt make you a person of shit character. Having said that, boy, the guy looks sad.
