Helping an MGoFamily in Need*

Mates,

This is not for me, but for one of our long-standing members (almost 14 yrs) who quietly posted a very significant 'GoFundMe' link in the basketball thread a couple down.  It is easy to miss, but the essence of his family's circumstance is this:

1.  Wife is in year three of a pitched battle with cancer

2.  They had been keeping up with bills, but the wheels have literally come off and to top it all off, their suburban went up in flames on Saturday.

3.  They have four children they are trying to shepherd through this difficult time, and trying to maintain some normalcy.

So the request is simple:  if it's on your heart and in your ability, maybe click the link and give a little, or maybe a lot, but give something.  Link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/ypq3za-help-a-family-of-six?member=30210327&sharetype=teams

Disclaimer - Though I have met or had direct contact with dozens of you, I have not met or know Hoek beyond what he posts so I cannot vouch for him personally.

We all talk about pointing the Michigan 'Money Cannon' at coaches, NIL, etc., but maybe we can do a little for something that is far more important.

Lastly, mods, if this thread isn't appropriate please accept my apologies and nuke it.  Otherwise, let's Go Blue.

*Hopefully worth a re-post as it got shoved down pretty quickly with various threads and folks might come home from work and check on the board.   I think robf or Seth also put it on the sticky, so whomever did that, thank you.

Thanks XM.  These stories weigh on my heart and I'm glad you brought it to the top of the board as I hadn't seen it.

We are so grateful beyond words. I wrote a thank you to everyone in the sticky thread. Buckeye Chuck said it best. The rivalry is fun and sports are fun, but we are all human and the real life is greater than that!

someday we hope to be back on track where we can give back, as I’ll never forget the generosity shown by so many people!

Hoek, I hope and pray that your wife will recover and live another few decades!

I deliberated giving anonymously, but then decided 'Why not raise the bar?' because y'all wouldn't want to be out-given by a Buckeye, right?

Let's see The Michigan Difference!

(Thanks XM for bringing it to our attention, brother!)

A decade ago our family fought colon cancer. My brother had stage 4 and a 4th grader, and his wife tried to keep things as normal as possible for her.  It only happened because there was as least one of us siblings staying with them--80 weeks in a row, 34 chemo treatments, a dozen radiation doses, a forever roller coaster.  Neighbors, coworkers, friends for life contributed in ways big and small.  I don't need to imagine what this family is going through, and because I have been there I am more than happy to help a member of the MGoBlog family.

I know this sounds weird, but do they have a Venmo account?  I could be wrong but both have tax implications when receiving money.  Venmo is a lot easier for people to give than gofundme.

Sent some cash their way.  I'd like to think some folks out there would do the same for my friends or family.

Best wishes to the family!
