Somerville is the type of player who lacks athleticism but makes up for it big time in football smarts and great pass rushing technique. He is currently 6’1 and around 230lbs he has a very stocky build and broad shoulders. To me Somerville has a lower ceiling but a very high floor as he’s not some athletic freak but his form and technique is amazing and already polished. He currently attends powerhouse Saguaro High School in Arizona and choose Michigan over FSU, Georgia, ASU, and Auburn.

And the 2nd and 3rd step are damn good too. He seems compact, powerful, and runs well to my amateur eyes. Brandon Graham is 6’2”. I get that vibe.
At one point he was a top 15 recruit in this class. He has plenty of athleticism.
By “lacks athleticism” I meant he’s not a freak athlete but is still a good athlete. I mean anyone who is gonna play D1 CFB has to be an athlete. Also I would say he used to be a top 15 player but got moved down because he isn’t the best athlete.
I would argue that he got moved down because of his lack of prototypical size. Kind of like Devin Bush...in about every sense.

Congrats to him and look forward to seeing him in the winged helmet. If the main issue is 6’1” as a DE, we can only hope for another Brandon Graham who topped at 6’2”. Go Blue.

If he packs on the lbs. and stays at 6' 1", he'll probably end up at nose tackle. Go Blue !
I'm not sure if he can put on 70 lbs of good weight. May be he will grow into 6'2 260lbs. If he keeps his quicks he will be a good DE.
