Not sure what you're looking at, here.  The 'Don Brown Special' is generally someone that's under the radar and a relative unknown, sans high value P5 offers.  This kid has been offered by OSU, Clemson, FSU, ND, PSU, etc...  This is a fairly good list!

He's not special, he's SPECIAL!!!

In his commitment twitter post he specifically shouted out Don Brown. "Coach Don Brown, you came to Massachusetts and offered a 14 year old boy an opportunity to live out his dream, thank you." That's what I was looking at. Clearly Don Brown was very important in this recruitment. Maybe we just have different definitions of "Don Brown special." Although I think your definition would still apply in this case. Brown offered him when he was in the 8th Grade, i.e. under the radar and unknown. He ended up blowing up later, but Brown was one of the first to identify and target him.

Michigan is 16th in average by my estimate. But they are behind Nebraska who has 5 recruits, Texas with 7, Washington with 8, Stanford with 9, and Tenn with 11. Those averages will fall as their class size doubles or triples. Michigan finishing in the top 10 in average and total is achievable.

I get why TheCube is getting downvotes, but he is right. Our current average composite commit rating is 89.55, which would have been good for 17th last year. Of course there's still plenty of time left, and the offer sheets of some of our three stars suggest they may be due for a bump, but if we were to fill out our class with like recruits we'd have more like a top 15-20 class than top 20. For what its worth I love this class so far, just wanted to slow the pitchfork parade.

He followed a perfect formula for getting negged. Jump into a hello post with a negative take. Then overstate your case, here by exaggerating how far this class is from remaining top ten.

If this was a thread about how this class will fill up or something like that then I wouldn't downvote him for voicing his opinion. These types of arguments in hello posts are a big reason people hate Maizen.

No it won’t hold up but we might stay in the top ten. Depending on how we finish the class and after player rankings are adjusted after their senior years, we could finish 7 or 8. I don’t think we will finish any lower than 13. This type of class each year will yield a team good enough to compete with anyone.

This class has started off very well. But finishing will be important. I’m not sure if you can say finishing 10-15 every year is good enough to compete with anyone. Bama and Clemson will be too 5 every year till a head coach leaves. Uga and osu will be right there unless they falter on the field.

Has Clemson ever had a top 5 class? Their 2020 class is awesome, but they've been winning with classes mostly ranked in the 10-15 range.

It's kind of silly to talk about Michigan finishing 10-15 every year when they were #8 last year. Bottom line is they will recruit the best class they can. It's not a strategy to land outside the top ten. There are well known reasons they simply can't out recruit Georgia, Alabama and a few others.

I could be wrong, but if you have a class that finishes around #10 each year, that means you’re probably getting 6 - 8 high end talents each year. Several will not meet expectations, but you’ll have several guys who out perform their ranking. You only have 22 starters so even if you’re excluding freshmen, you should have 18 - 24 elite players on your team. Your depth won’t be as good as Alabama’s but your starters will be good enough to compete with anybody. Also we seem to have less early entrees than OSU, Clemson, Georgia, etc..

Again, I could be wrong but I think if you consistently have a top ten class, you should field a team that can athletically compete with anyone. Once UM beats OSU and makes the playoff, it should open the door to recruit a top 5 class every year. When you’re doing that you have the depth to handle injuries and anything else that comes your way. It just takes that one break through season to go from very good to elite. The talent is there, barring injuries at certain positions, to do it this year.

I took a look at his announcement tweet above. He took the time to graciously thank the coaches that helped him along the way. It really makes me believe that we got a high character guy that we’ll be proud to see in maize and blue. Welcome!

Mr. Mullings, may you flourish as a Wolverine!!!

The board must but suffering from emotional fatigue...such a weak response to an excellent commit. If he had committed a week ago this place would be all lit up.
