One of the kicking sites lists michigan as a PWO offer but I have no problem taking more than 1 kicker if there's value for both. Quinn Nordin was the number 1 kicker in his class but didn't dominate at all here. I don't know if Moody graduated, but it looks like he is still on the roster for this upcoming season. After that we have we really only have tommy doman as the other 2 listed kickers on 247 have no profiles, and I'd bet are walk ons.

We should never have to worry about missing extra points and short field goals, and if that means taking 2 kickers this class then go for it.

Friends with his HS head coach. School where he is from plays 8-man football. Had offers from a lot of high end schools even coming from a small program. Has a really big leg, and impressive in less than two years of football. Former standout soccer player.

A little more info: from Marcellus, southwest of Kalamazoo. 5'9", 165#. Kohl's has him ranked as the #17 kicker and #97 punter in the class of 2023. Kornblue has him ranked as their #24 kicker.

Kickers and punters are a great use of PWO offers, if for no other reason than as an insurance policy. We've had enough 5*ish K/Ps struggle to know it's never good to put all your eggs in one basket, so it's great to be able to have a backup option that would be a 3*/4* based on his positional rank and yet isn't taking up a scholarship.

Honestly it's rare to have a walk-on see meaningful playing time--everyone remembers the Glasgow brothers, Vastardis and Kovaks--but they represent only a small percentage of the walk-ons that come through the program. So there's no reason not to take a quality backup K/P with a spot instead of what typically amounts to an extreme longshot lottery ticket...

It is an important position if you points matter to you: I thought Jerry Rice would maybe be in the top twenty somewhere, but no.
