ARGHHHH YOU PUT THE BALL THROUGH THE UPRIGHTS
I’ll take any of your Mc’s available please and thank you
Does this mean we are taking 2 kickers this cycle or do you think we will drop the other one?
Probably hopes is one will become a punter and the other a kicker. We seem to value diversity in on specialists.
Stone Anderson, full time holder?
You can say that again!
Stone Anderson, full time holder?
One of the kicking sites lists michigan as a PWO offer but I have no problem taking more than 1 kicker if there's value for both. Quinn Nordin was the number 1 kicker in his class but didn't dominate at all here. I don't know if Moody graduated, but it looks like he is still on the roster for this upcoming season. After that we have we really only have tommy doman as the other 2 listed kickers on 247 have no profiles, and I'd bet are walk ons.
We should never have to worry about missing extra points and short field goals, and if that means taking 2 kickers this class then go for it.
Moody is here to play this year. Nordin was inconsistent, but had some great games for Michigan.
I agree Nordin had great games. The dude had a bomb of a leg but seemed to struggle with confidence.
PWO makes a lot more sense. Can't imagine we'd give to scholarships to kickers in the same class.
Neither.
This guy is a PWO. Samaha is the scholarship kicker.
If he isn’t from a foreign country I don’t want him.
He's a kicker. Does being foreign make any difference?
Yes, all kickers should come from Australia and kick rugby style because its a fail safe technique
/ducks
Too soon. You better duck. /Jk
I’d prefer Aussie punters to kickers personally
The best kickers were foreign-born guys who looked more like a Formula 1 driver, couldn't speak English, and never really interacted with the rest of the team.
Is that Jan Stenerud?
Probably the best position to be foreign given all the soccering going on in other parts of the world. And Rugby punting.
But seriously, I bet kicker is the position with the highest percentage of foreign born players in D1
...or from space, if he's a punter.
Congratulations. Welcome to UM.
Friends with his HS head coach. School where he is from plays 8-man football. Had offers from a lot of high end schools even coming from a small program. Has a really big leg, and impressive in less than two years of football. Former standout soccer player.
Yeah, but how long are his arms?
Pad level???
Reportedly long enough that he sometimes blocks his own kicks.
Long enough that he can hold for his own field goals.
Hello Cordell, wishing you “nothing but success” - both on and off the field. Michigan is a fantastic place - enjoy every day of the journey and your experiences there.
Go Blue!
Balas confirms he'll be a PWO
A little more info: from Marcellus, southwest of Kalamazoo. 5'9", 165#. Kohl's has him ranked as the #17 kicker and #97 punter in the class of 2023. Kornblue has him ranked as their #24 kicker.
Congrats and welcome aboard.
Reggie Cleveland All-Star, this one
I think kickers should be able to be 4 star rating and not capped at 3. They become very important at crucial times in the year
Kickers and punters are a great use of PWO offers, if for no other reason than as an insurance policy. We've had enough 5*ish K/Ps struggle to know it's never good to put all your eggs in one basket, so it's great to be able to have a backup option that would be a 3*/4* based on his positional rank and yet isn't taking up a scholarship.
Honestly it's rare to have a walk-on see meaningful playing time--everyone remembers the Glasgow brothers, Vastardis and Kovaks--but they represent only a small percentage of the walk-ons that come through the program. So there's no reason not to take a quality backup K/P with a spot instead of what typically amounts to an extreme longshot lottery ticket...
Hell Yeah!!
I was waiting for this gif.
All the hyphens.

It is an important position if you points matter to you: I thought Jerry Rice would maybe be in the top twenty somewhere, but no.
