It's weird this year. Interactions with Buckeyes have been rather civil and like this thread says, they've been oddly respectful. Either the loss last year humbled them or they do actually feel threatened by us

This is the type of talk that worries me. Their OL and DL combined have more Kiper / NFL high draft pick projections than any team with the exception of maybe Alabama. The main issue - they've had a whole year to listen to how soft they were In 2021 not only against us but others like Oregon, Utah and a few others. Living in Delaware OH, we hear that soft theme a lot. Have you seen their lines play this year?

Just my honest take, I think OSU is going to add some wrinkles and sell out on defense to stop your run game. JJ seems like a solid QB, but he's prone to overthrowing, hanging onto the ball too long, and not hitting receivers in stride. OSU will score... so getting a few stops and short fields early could be trouble for UM. The flip side of that is your offensive line man handling us like last year, and if that happens, we're in BIG trouble. Your best defense is keeping OSU's offense off the field. Your DLine is good, but not what it was last year... and Stroud with another year of experience isn't a guy you want to give time to in the pocket. As with almost all high quality matchups, this one will be won in the trenches.

I live in Delaware OH and believe me when I say that they've had this year's game IN COLUMBUS circled for a year now and the rest of their schedule are considered exhibition games. I'm trying to get tickets but no one wants to sell theirs at this time. To say the Horseshoe will be loud that day is probably a huge understatement  UM needs to get up BIG early in that game to take the crowd out of it

There’s always tickets for sale. Not sure if you’re just wanting tickets from people you know but ticket sites have hundreds of to tickets available. As far as Ohio state being ready this year, they are always ready. Although this is both teams biggest rival it means even more to Ohio state. They come to play every year and they bring it every year. Their players and fans obsessively hate Michigan. They are violent and dirty.

I have felt for the last 5-10 years that OSU kind of wanted Michigan to be better than they were.  The luster was starting to come off The Game and it had gotten to the point (for a while) where it was even a “big win” on their resume.  I think they were actually kind of getting desperate for Michigan to get their shit together.  Last year got their attention.  Michigan will have to play nearly a perfect football game to beat them this year.

My whole life, I have heard of The Game described as Michigan v Ohio State. I now hear more and more it referred to as Ohio State v Michigan. This irrationally bothers me.

Some of it is probably from the fact that I am a big boxing fan and in boxing you use the first reference to denote the A side and the second reference to denote the B side.

Time to slowly restore order with another win this year.

Even when our teams we’re having down years the Ohio state game was competitive and Michigan had opportunities to win. When Michigan also had talent every controversial call went against Michigan. Michigan gets screwed and a couple game changing calls and the refs dictated the end result of the game. Seems more likely to happen and more blatantly when it’s at OSU (like at msu last year) I hope the reffing  crew doesn’t change the outcome of the game and let the players and coaches fight it out to decide the winner

They do not respect us nor think we have a chance in The Game. They think last year was a fluke and there is nothing we can do this year to change that because they are too arrogant to see anything past their team.

OSU Fan - I read and very rarely post here. I'm a college football nut and the quality of discussion is generally good on this board.

I would say that the majority of the OSU fanbase wants Michigan to be 11-0 every year for the Game and win their bowl game. It brings more credibility to the rivalry and the conference as a whole. The 1990s led to widespread mental anguish to a whole generation of kids in Ohio.  On the flip side, I have a coworker whose son is 13 and a diehard Michigan fan. He could not remember Michigan ever beating Ohio State.

I think that in 6 of the 10 matchups during the ten-year war involved both teams being in the Top 5. The way things are trending, 2021 - 2030 could be very similar. Penn State is the only other team in the conference with remotely the same level of talent, but their coach is terrible. USC and UCLA will add a wrinkle to things, but Harbaugh has proven that he can get a lot more out of recruiting classes ranked 5-15 than just about anybody else in the country. OSU is the only program north of the Mason Dixon line with the ability to recruit at an SEC level.  There is a lot of reason to believe both programs will be at the top of the conference going forward.

Had Michigan not bounced back after 2020, the current narrative around the BIG would be that its trending to a version of the ACC, one dominant team and the rest of the conference is weak. Michigan being resurgent has the conference clearly above BIG 12, PAC 12, ACC.

We only have one game on our schedule..... five times....

I think when you've been on top for so long, you aren't afraid to show a bit of mutual respect.

Meanwhile, MSU off in the corner convincing themselves that Michigan being good is some deep state conspiracy...

I think that win last week would be enough to get anybody in the country's attention, and OSU can't rely on the feeling that everything will just work out and Michigan will find a way to lose anymore.

But that OSU offense is ridiculous, they're my #1 team, and have been since early in the season. It would take quite a lot for Michigan to beat them in Columbus, probably including JJ having a lot of growth between now and then.
