A healthy bit of respect coming from Ohio
First time I’ve watched Buckeye Huddle, and I’m feeling the respect loud and clear. It’s actually pretty good stuff without all the rah rah BS I usually find.

Fuck them

I second this!

It's weird this year. Interactions with Buckeyes have been rather civil and like this thread says, they've been oddly respectful. Either the loss last year humbled them or they do actually feel threatened by us
October 17th, 2022 at 8:21 PM ^
I've had the opposite interactions with OSU fans. They all have acted like last year was a fluke.
Fuck those guys.

My guess is that Harbaugh's "born on third base" quip hit a little close to home.
October 17th, 2022 at 11:30 PM ^
The smart ones know we kicked their asses in the trenches and we could do it again.
The fan boys who've lived almost their entire adult lives without Michigan being a threat to them have no idea.

This is the type of talk that worries me. Their OL and DL combined have more Kiper / NFL high draft pick projections than any team with the exception of maybe Alabama. The main issue - they've had a whole year to listen to how soft they were In 2021 not only against us but others like Oregon, Utah and a few others. Living in Delaware OH, we hear that soft theme a lot. Have you seen their lines play this year?
October 18th, 2022 at 11:54 AM ^
Just my honest take, I think OSU is going to add some wrinkles and sell out on defense to stop your run game. JJ seems like a solid QB, but he's prone to overthrowing, hanging onto the ball too long, and not hitting receivers in stride. OSU will score... so getting a few stops and short fields early could be trouble for UM. The flip side of that is your offensive line man handling us like last year, and if that happens, we're in BIG trouble. Your best defense is keeping OSU's offense off the field. Your DLine is good, but not what it was last year... and Stroud with another year of experience isn't a guy you want to give time to in the pocket. As with almost all high quality matchups, this one will be won in the trenches.
October 18th, 2022 at 5:31 PM ^
Not a bad take, but I might disagree on our d-line. We might not have the game wreckers we did last year, but overall it’s a better line due to how the interior has progressed and the edges still being very very good. They’re also getting better…
October 17th, 2022 at 11:31 PM ^
No.
Fuck ohio always.

I live in Delaware OH and believe me when I say that they've had this year's game IN COLUMBUS circled for a year now and the rest of their schedule are considered exhibition games. I'm trying to get tickets but no one wants to sell theirs at this time. To say the Horseshoe will be loud that day is probably a huge understatement UM needs to get up BIG early in that game to take the crowd out of it

If you do get tix for the love of god don’t wear anything Michigan unless you’ve got body armor on. i went in 06 and next to the ghost pepper wing challenge was the worst mistake I’ve ever made. Fucking animals!

I was unaware that Jonah Hill and Patton Oswalt were such big OSU fans.
October 17th, 2022 at 11:51 PM ^
Well...I'm impressed. Couple of short fat OSU fanboys. Sounds about right.
October 17th, 2022 at 7:27 PM ^
I don't want their respect, I want what Conan wants.
October 17th, 2022 at 7:36 PM ^
We better not start feeling ourselves. Last year it took a kick in the teeth by msu to really go on a rampage. I really prefer not having that this year.
October 17th, 2022 at 9:22 PM ^
I’m with you. I hope the players are very focused the next two weeks and not succumbing to the temptations of being over confident.
October 18th, 2022 at 8:12 AM ^
I'll feel myself if I want to
October 17th, 2022 at 7:37 PM ^
I have felt for the last 5-10 years that OSU kind of wanted Michigan to be better than they were. The luster was starting to come off The Game and it had gotten to the point (for a while) where it was even a “big win” on their resume. I think they were actually kind of getting desperate for Michigan to get their shit together. Last year got their attention. Michigan will have to play nearly a perfect football game to beat them this year.
October 17th, 2022 at 9:44 PM ^
My whole life, I have heard of The Game described as Michigan v Ohio State. I now hear more and more it referred to as Ohio State v Michigan. This irrationally bothers me.
Some of it is probably from the fact that I am a big boxing fan and in boxing you use the first reference to denote the A side and the second reference to denote the B side.
Time to slowly restore order with another win this year.
October 18th, 2022 at 8:40 AM ^
Squared, part of that is because Buckeye fans still can't figure out what alphabetical order means and which letter comes first. They actually believe that O is earlier in the alphabet than H.
October 18th, 2022 at 1:09 AM ^
Even when our teams we’re having down years the Ohio state game was competitive and Michigan had opportunities to win. When Michigan also had talent every controversial call went against Michigan. Michigan gets screwed and a couple game changing calls and the refs dictated the end result of the game. Seems more likely to happen and more blatantly when it’s at OSU (like at msu last year) I hope the reffing crew doesn’t change the outcome of the game and let the players and coaches fight it out to decide the winner

Rat poison
October 17th, 2022 at 9:07 PM ^
They do not respect us nor think we have a chance in The Game. They think last year was a fluke and there is nothing we can do this year to change that because they are too arrogant to see anything past their team.

OSU Fan - I read and very rarely post here. I'm a college football nut and the quality of discussion is generally good on this board.
I would say that the majority of the OSU fanbase wants Michigan to be 11-0 every year for the Game and win their bowl game. It brings more credibility to the rivalry and the conference as a whole. The 1990s led to widespread mental anguish to a whole generation of kids in Ohio. On the flip side, I have a coworker whose son is 13 and a diehard Michigan fan. He could not remember Michigan ever beating Ohio State.
I think that in 6 of the 10 matchups during the ten-year war involved both teams being in the Top 5. The way things are trending, 2021 - 2030 could be very similar. Penn State is the only other team in the conference with remotely the same level of talent, but their coach is terrible. USC and UCLA will add a wrinkle to things, but Harbaugh has proven that he can get a lot more out of recruiting classes ranked 5-15 than just about anybody else in the country. OSU is the only program north of the Mason Dixon line with the ability to recruit at an SEC level. There is a lot of reason to believe both programs will be at the top of the conference going forward.
Had Michigan not bounced back after 2020, the current narrative around the BIG would be that its trending to a version of the ACC, one dominant team and the rest of the conference is weak. Michigan being resurgent has the conference clearly above BIG 12, PAC 12, ACC.

They probably realize they can't talk smack with a worse OOC schedule than we had--I mean we played Hawaii CSU and UConn, but they played...notre dame
October 17th, 2022 at 10:49 PM ^
All for the regular "Beat Ohio" drill.
But not looking past MSU, and ESPECIALLY Illinois, which just reeks of snake bite venom to me.
October 18th, 2022 at 5:59 AM ^
Michigan Staee is on the the clock.
October 18th, 2022 at 8:12 AM ^
We only have one game on our schedule..... five times....
next game is the only game that matters..... winning out starts with lil' bro, lets not look beyond that.
ONWARD, GO BLUE!
October 18th, 2022 at 9:27 AM ^
But the real question is this.. Are we selling more jerseys in Ohio?
October 18th, 2022 at 2:39 PM ^
I think when you've been on top for so long, you aren't afraid to show a bit of mutual respect.
Meanwhile, MSU off in the corner convincing themselves that Michigan being good is some deep state conspiracy...
October 20th, 2022 at 3:01 PM ^
I think that win last week would be enough to get anybody in the country's attention, and OSU can't rely on the feeling that everything will just work out and Michigan will find a way to lose anymore.
But that OSU offense is ridiculous, they're my #1 team, and have been since early in the season. It would take quite a lot for Michigan to beat them in Columbus, probably including JJ having a lot of growth between now and then.
