The sad thing is Harbaugh has to concede this because of the bullshit being spread within the state (recruiting wise) and these high school coaches who are acting like a bunch of high school girls and pretending like its not a good idea to send their players to the best academic school in the fucking state.

In general, a properly coached team doesn't let a rival team and coach run their mouths following what was truly an 8 game losing streak.   The fact that RR (a coach that hilariously curbstomped their coach while at WVU and then Hoke allowed this shit to continue is what the problem was.   If RR did his damn job and won in 2009 and 2010 like he should have, we would never be in this position.

I dont go that deep in recruiting.  What exactly are you talking about?  And why should as "bullshit" gossips or rumours matter?  Jim f*cking Harbaugh is our head coach.

Sam Webb confirmed that there is a lot of negative recruiting going on and one of the main sources was the moron that made Norfleet's private student records public.  Believe it or not, people believe this and other bullshit like that. Believe it or not, high school coaches have their own agendas at times like these as well.    I don't think it should matter, but when people believe false information and take it as fact  because you hear one side of the story (Michigan can't comment on student's academic record), Harbaugh has to clean up a mess thanks to pettiness.

While I don't doubt the Norfleet situation plays are role..nothing compares to on the field results and as you pointed out in your intial message they have been atrocious in this series for much of the last decade.

I can only imagine the video that is being shown to recruits in EL with MSU taking it to UM repeatedly and in physically dominate fashion. At least that I what I'd expect them to do...they could even throw in Hoke's lone win as it was pretty close to a loss and felt nothing like dominance (for UM).

Harbaugh is a master motivator and I think this is just another way for him to change the mentality in AA...wins (along with playing time and everything else) will be earned.

"Act like your own shit doesn't stink and be arrogantly dismissive of your rivals." — typical college football fan

The honeymoon is certainly an advantage for Harbaugh... if Hoke or RR had said something like "We're not the big kid on the block, MSU is." people around here would have crapped their pants and then broken down the doors to A2 Torch & Pitchfork.

Before anyone pisses themselves over the MSU comment, remember what Harbaugh said about USC before his first season at Stanford.

Good God, imagine if he goes for two up by 30+ when Michigan is playing at their place like he did to USC in 2009 when Stanford beat them 55-21.

He's a no bullshit guy ... tells it like it is, and does so consistently. I think that goes a long way in rebuilding credibility and trust. Good for him.

I wonder if Magnus or Space Coyote was in the room?  I think Magnus is a coach, but I'm not sure where. Not sure if SC is an active coach.

When Michigan kicked MSU's heads in time after time in basketball, the response

MSU player's response:  "We are still the better team"

Funny how Michigan has to show respect, but when getting curbstomped for 40 years, you can hire a coach that runs his mouth freely.

Shit-talking and lack of respect doesn't result in losses, not showing up and playing like you don't give a shit does.

I'm glad he recognizes that we are behind MSU right now and that as long as they're beating us, we will be behind them. I know we make fun of MSU and Dantonio bitching about not getting any respect, but they just got a nod from their rivals head coach. Thats huge and speaks volumes about the type of guy Harbaugh is.

I threw up before and during posting this, and probably will after.  He speaks the truth, and all the coaches in that room know it.  That has to be a refreshing change to them after being ignored and then listening to Hoke talk like it was still 1985. He then went on to say very clearly and without arrogance that his goal was to be where they are.  How will Dantonio handle such a role  reversal?  His program is built on disrespect from others, and Harbaugh just gave him...nothing at all to use.

"This is Michigan" was good for the fans but not the players. It united the fans after the RR era and brought the swagger back to the program. Right now we have a lot of people with short term memories on here claiming stuff like Michigan State is better than Michigan was in the 90s which we all know isn't true or Michigan hasn't been good for 20 years when they won big ten titles in 2003 and 2004 and was a play away from the NCG in 06.

The Big Ten as a whole is at an all time worst.

Teams like Illinois, Purdue, and Iowa were actually headaches to play and had talent on their teams.

Also people seem to conviently forget that both claims to a conference title for them involve seasons where they played no regular season games against Ohio State.  In fact, in a 5 year stretch, they did not play a regular season game 3 times against Ohio State.

Hell Hoke and Michigan had the better overall season in 2011 and 2012 for goodness sake.

They cried about Michigan going to a BCS bowl while we sat home, and then were suddenly went silent when they got a higher bowl over Wisconsin for the very same reason.
