Harbaugh Press Conference

Well worth a listen.

Besides the obvious topics of discussion, someone asked if he would donate part of his contract to NIL/Collective.  And to paraphrase his response:

"There are a lot people profiting, coaches are profiting millions and I've had people tell me not to say anything about that because that'll take away money for the coaches....but in order for players to be compensated properly, I'm using my voice and yeah, I would take less money for the players to have a share, and I hope other coaches would use their voice to express the same thing..."

Love Harbaugh.  Michigan man through and through.

Fuck BIG/NCAA, keep this man in Ann Arbor.  Whatever it takes.

Q: So walk us through your day yesterday?

JH: Watched the game. Went and saw Zak in the hospital. Went back home with the family.

No update on Will Johnson.

High praise for all the portal additions.

An incredible person. He said about donating back to the athletic dept in 2021. And willing to take a cut for the players.

It is sad that B1G coaches used their voices against him but when it comes to their bottom line I am not seeing a mob mentality. NCAA, B1G and other political suits will continue to persecute him. Which player wouldn't want to play for a guy like him.

What I am hoping is the recruits see the value and character of their coach and what he/she (in this case, JH) is willing to do and translate into commitments... That would in term force other coaches to buy in and speak the same way.. Just like revenue sharing that state congress is trying to create for the student athletes will bridge the gap and make more coaches and the "institutions" to change the stance.. Just not enough capital for the change (at this time) and I wish recruits seeing through all that... Imagine if top recruits commit to Michigan for what JH say and you see how quick NIL ends up being revenue sharing quickly... Recruits need to see through this as well. Not just the coaches.. Again, I am all for student athletes to get more of the revenue pie but not the current form of NIL which is more or less pay for play (example, Miami and Texas A&M/aTm)....

Agree 100% w Harbaugh but unfortunately i wouldn't hold my breath w the hope that top recruits will come as a result of his stance vs the chance for some good ole fashion up front "pay for play" NIL money.

These recruits are playing the system for how it is, not how it should be.

Paraphrasing, but “I just see all the hype and commercials and the revenue (this week).  And who can be against paying the players, even minimum wage.”

I think we know who.  It’s the NCAA and our own conference.  And now they’ve orchestrated this campaign against our university and our coach.  Free Harbaugh, free UM.

NIL isnt for the most profit generating part of the players name image and likeness, actually playing the game for their school. No its for enticing players to come to your school. Sure its not technically NIL but the NCAA has decided its more NIL than paying them for their actual NIL.

What the fuck is going on? This and maybe the earth being covered by 100 feet of plastic will be the biggest head scratchers the next 100 years.

I haven't watched the whole video yet.  I had to stop because just looking at Coach he seemed like a man who had just been stolen from.  Think about it, here is a guy who thrives on competition, who's worked several years building his best college team, and because of two subordinates acting outside the rules, he was forced to fall on his sword and was not allowed to take HIS team into The Game.

I just feel bad for the guy.  He deserves better.

I don't want to make a long thing, but when I saw this last night my mind changed a bit on the topic.

I personally am still on the side of "student" first and getting a scholarship is a reward and honor. I've got to say though, Harbaugh gets it and what a coach and mentor he is. Exactly what you'd want for a coach when you send your kids to them.

And you wonder why the NCAA is trying so hard to take him down, and why so many coaches just freaking hate this guy. He's a threat to their bottom line.

And you know what? He couldn't care less.
