I think it's interesting that the list of past scores includes updated rankings for our opponents, instead of their rankings at the time, which is how I often see it listed. Kind of cool to get a better sense of how the season lays out, in hindsight...

One Armed Bandit

I went to bed Monday late because I stayed up to watch the aftermath and the SVP SC episode. BTW, did it occur to anyone to not have the Washington helmet prominently displayed on the desk as they were talking about Michigan winning the title? I digress. Worldwide Leader.

Anyway, I realized that on January 9, that the quota for sports success in the state of Michigan has already been fulfilled by Team 144 and nothing else that happens for the rest of the year matters.

Lions lose on Sunday? Doesn’t matter.

Pistons go 3-79? Doesn’t matter.

UM basketball doesn’t win a game for the rest of the year? (A strong possibility) Doesn’t matter.

Red Wings? Tigers? Doesn’t matter.

All the adversity, the witch hunts, the media’s holier than thou attitude, everyone passing judgement and damning this team to the seventh level of hell, none of that matters either. All that matter is greatness, which was achieved Monday.

If there’s one thing that we can take from Team 144 is that love always triumphs over hate. Love conquers all. And the love that this team had for each other carried it through the darkest timeline.

VS EVERYBODY.

Couldn’t be prouder. Couldn’t feel more satisfying. This was a great start to 2024. It makes me realize that no matter what happens the rest of the year, on the field or in my life, it all just doesn’t matter. I saw Team 144 accomplish greatness despite unrelenting adversity. And if they can do it, so can I. An inspiration to all. And that’s what matters most.
