So yesterday we got rumors of a more popular former staff member potentially getting a head job, there is now rumors of another head job possibility.

Drevno was the OL coach at Idaho back in 2002, before he got connected to Harbaugh. He’s currently serving an analyst at UCLA after being let go at SC last season.

The Vandals have had at least 7 losses per season (non COVID) since dropping back down to FCS in 2018, so it hasn’t exactly been a boon.

Yeah, he's probably not a very good OC, and he was definitely overmatched trying to coach OL on top of being OC. The thing that's probably most surprising for me though is how badly he flopped as OL coach at USC, since pre-Michigan he had the reputation of being very good at coaching OL. It's like he lost his mojo when he came here, and has seemingly yet to rcover it.

His OL's in 2015 and 2016 were a step up from the OL's Hoke was delivering, though.  We were generally pretty happy them.  Actually, the 2017 OL wasn't too bad, either - it was QB injuries that left us with O'Korn that turned that season sour.  Maybe brought on by a porous OL against Purdue?

Nonetheless, once he was given the 'OC' title (co-OC, actually) his OL units started to get progressively worse.  I am at a loss as to what happened at USC...

Uh, the 2017 OL was a disaster. The QB injuries were in part due to a line that couldn't block. 2017 was the year that Nolan Ulizio was moved to starter in a desperation move, a decision that both telegraphed the OL struggles that season and caused the biggest neg meltdown in the history of this board.

15 and 16 were ok. Not as good as more recent years, but improved. There were personnel holes that were a Hoke legacy. 17 is where the cracks clearly emerged, and Drev had to be put to the sword.

Yeah, the first two years were about maximizing what they had in place while hoping to get their own guys in place. Unfortunately the Newsome injury led to having to play Cole at LT and starting Patrick Kugler, along with the aforementioned Ulizio experiment (he actually was functional after he transferred to Pitt).

That actually looks really cool, especially considering the weather in Moscow.  Oh wait, that's Moscow, IDAHO.  Still imagine the weather isn't too great and probably a better way to get people to attend games.  Watching football in freezing temps isn't the most fun, especially when you're rooting for a really bad team.

And they said Harbaugh's coaching tree was not very good.

I wonder where Dantonio's band of brothers are now? I'd google them, but I don't actually know who any of them are.

I searched on "Idaho Vandals Football Field" and found out they play in a domed stadium.  It's called "Kibbie Field."  It has a capacity of 16,000 and was built in 1971.

Interesting, I'd have to assume an FCS HC is a step up from an FBS position coach and he's been let go by his last two employers.  I'm not sure that's a great resume for being a HC, but I wish him luck.

I'm probably the only wolverine fan in Idaho. Well besides our TE recruit. I think the big house holds more people than the state of Idaho has at times. He will fail miserably here, Boise State quit being their rival because they pretty much suck. The stadium looks like a airplane hanger basically.

There was another Wolverine fan there, back in the day when I fought fires in the West, including Idaho.

Also, I would have spent a summer based there as a smoke-jumper but I turned down the job for love, to stay with my honey in Philadelphia. I had left town, driving west when, on impulse I turned around to rejoin her. In a movie, my return would have been a heart-warming climax. In life . . . not the best decision I've ever made.
