Gift for my Manager Ultimate Michigan Fan

Submitted by GoArmy on December 1st, 2018 at 9:46 AM

Looking for creative ideas and how to purchase a truly distinctive gift for my manager who is a lifelong Michigan fan. Great guy... Was thinking tickets for two to UM Notre Dame next year inside a signed Helmet. Wall Quotes and framed images. Something authentic... Maybe service oriented - Meeting Coach Jim and sponsoring a Charity. Ideas like that... I went to Army and not UM - so I am just a fan and do not know my way around, so to speak. I've followed the team since 1971 and love the tradition and history. Looking for a little Christmas serious gift idea(s) help. Go Blue! Thank you!

Hey, Chief - This guy gave me the opportunity of a lifetime. I am a vet - never stuck my nose, tongue, or dick up anyone's asshole. Never sat on one either you pencil neck Nancy boy. Be happy to get on the mat or in the cage with you so you can't run off you little worm.

I guess it depends on your budget.   You have a good start to some ideas - mine would include:

- authentic helmet

- authentic jersey with his name on the back and customized to a jersey # that might mean something (maybe his graduation year)

- tickets to a big game

- get him into the annual trip Coach Harbaugh takes to South America to volunteer (I think it's Peru but I could be wrong)

- signed jersey from his favorite player (eBay is the best bet here)

- there are a million books about UM football

- framed picture of the stadium

- get a brick engraved with his name inside the stadium plaza (I'm assuming this is still possible)

hopefully that hat is useful - also coincidentally my dad was a West Point alum so thank you for your service to and sacrifice for our country.  Looking forward to a victory over Navy...

Creative? How about buy a win for the football team over Ohio State. I think there would be many Michigan fans who would be willing to help you buy this gift for your manager. Seriously.

You must like your boss much more than I do. I throw in $20 and let my coworkers do the leg work. How much are you willing to shell out on said gift? Also, what do you do? You must be making GOOD money if you’re willing to spend this kind of money on your boss.

How about a seat at the 2019 press conference where Urbz announces his retirement.

Seriously though, I do have a UM mini helmet of #5 Mr. Peppers complete with helmet stickers made by a fellow mgoblogger if interested.

Can't recall the fellow blogger whom I got it from. Very cool indeed. Not near talented to make them. My artistic talent stops at drawing stick figures. Helmet sits next to the UM hover helmet which is also very cool!

Given you went to Army, see if you can get him on the field for the Army / UM game next year (Sept 7).  There could be a service angle / contribution you could make to Army that could get him a field pass.  That would be unique and charitable at the same time.

Thanks for your service to our country and good to see you are now a Wolverine.

I've never worked in a place where people were expected to spend serious money on their boss..  your situation must be different.

You could order a nice maize jacket from the M-Den.  Any game he attends, it really stands out.  If he ever attends a Maize-Out he will think of you fondly :-)

Do people get their managers gifts?  Seems like a kiss ass move to me.

Maybe I'm out of touch since my boss is 2000 miles away and my direct reports are in south america.

I've never gotten it so can't speak to the quality of the items it contains, but you could give him a Proud Box subscription from MDen.  The Dec-Jan boxes would run you a total of $100 including shipping.

Unfortunately, you're posting a week after that game. People are still feeling bad about the program and taking it out with shitposting. You probably would have gotten a lot of nice responses circa Nov. 20.

Tickets are always an awesome idea. Are you sort of near AA? If not, I always find arrangements around attending a game to be as valuable as the tickets themselves. Other activities to really make it worthwhile to fly or road trip out to Michigan are appreciated. You mentioned service-oriented so maybe that would fit along those lines - game Saturday and then a cool Michigan-sponsored activity Sunday? The alumni association does a lot, you might try contacting the Detroit/Ann Arbor area club(s) or the club in your area for events you could plug your manager into.
