Get Up You Wimps, Its the Last Game Day! What's in Your Cup and Who are you Picking to Win?

Submitted by xtramelanin on January 1st, 2020 at 7:40 AM

Good Morning All You Mgo-Hardcores,

Happy 2020.   Get out of bed and get moving.  Games are on today and the game is at 1:00.  Here is the Line-up, with favorites listed first:

Bama                 7.5             Michigan  (Incidentally, we are the 'away' team - expect the road whites)

Auburn                7               Minny

Wisc                    3               Oregon

Georgia              4.5             Baylor

Two questions this morning

1.   What is in your cup?  (no more booze you maniacs)

2.   Who are you picking to win today?   I know the board generally thinks Bama will be a replay of our game v. ohio, and I unfortunately agree with that sentiment.   That said, Auburn/Minny and Wisc/Oregon might be pretty good games.  And while I don't have much interest in UGA/Baylor, with a 4.5 pt spread it might be a good one.

I hope you guys/gals have a great 2020.  Would be wonderful to start it off with an unexpected win v. Bama.

Go Blue!

The B1G goes 0-3. Georgia crushes Baylor.

Just beer today as I’m working tomorrow. Miller Lite.

My prediction, M has some new D coaches by the end of the month.

Crushing Notre Dame at home was the highlight of the year for me.

I don't think it's going to be close.  Alabama is winning this game.  B1G 0-2 vs SEC. I think Oregon beats Wiscaansaan in a close game and Georgia wins an easy game.

That's a weird slate of games.  Other than Oregon-Wisconsin (and only if Oregon's defense shows up) and maybe UM-Alabama for a bit, I have a hard time seeing any of those games being competitive.  Like, Minnesota played 3 ranked teams all year and lost to two of them.  Baylor lost two close games to OU but their biggest win is probably Texas.  Anything can happen and teams can get into shootouts, but I don't think Georgia wants a repeat of last year's disinterested effort and Auburn just be Alabama.

Oregon has a really good defense, not just a really good defense for the Pac-12 or something like that.  But their offense is wonky at times and Wisconsin has a really good defense as well and a more consistent offense.  This could be one of those slow-motion beatings where Wisconsin is consistently up 10-14.

Part of me still wants to believe that Michigan comes out angry and hangs with Alabama and the talent gap turns out to be not as pronounced as people think.  But Saban keeps his guys motivated and Michigan is maybe just a top-12 team that got beat by a bunch of top-10 teams (I think on a neutral field UM is better than PSU but they're close).  Upsets can happen, but there's a reason the favorite is treated as such.

Gatorade is the first priority, then coffee.

Auburn & Wisconsin will get wins.... I don't love our chances, BUT, I think we'll play with a wide-open game plan and take more shots down field than we've seen throughout the year.  Should be fun to watch.  If our D-line can hold up in the run game we have a shot.

1.  Coffee, prepping for the trip to the Citrus Bowl 30 minutes down the road.

2.  Wolverines over the Inbred Cousins because cousins aren't for humping.

That Georgia/Baylor game will be closer than most think.  Georgia has 10+ players either voluntarily sitting out or suspended.  How motivated will this team be?  I could see a repeat of the Sugar Bowl loss to Texas from last year

I think Baylor wins in an upset. Not a blowout like Texas did last year, but with as many guys sitting out as Georgia has, you really have to wonder how motivated they are to be back in the Sugar Bowl for the second year in a row. Meanwhile, Baylor will probably look at this as a big opportunity to beat an SEC team. Not sure how many guys they have sitting out, if any, but one team will play like it wants to be there tonight. The other team won’t.

Coffee, for now. But I fully intend to drink heavily during the game . Just how heavily will be directly  proportional to the score.

Programming note: ESPNU will be broadcasting a replay of the 2000 Orange Bowl @10:30 a.m. for those who would like to see a guaranteed victory over Alabama today.

Who knows, maybe Michigan can pull off another victory similar to the '69 miracle win over Woody's team of the century. I'm hoping so.

Michigan 48

Alabama 45

I blew it out last night with food and a fair amount of beer while my wife and kid crushed me in board games so working out this morning and then watching the game with a giant steak salad. No alcohol today need to get back on the good eating after a tough few days lol.

Fucking bama fans coming to my house today.  Tried like hell to exclude them from the party, but it's my wife's friends and it's way too early in the year to start digging holes.  I will be drinking Cranberry Bubbly and trying not to choke somebody wearing red.

Hoping Auburn trashes Minnesota, ditto with Oregon and Wisconsin.  B1G pride doesn't apply to MSU, OSU, Wisconsin, PSU or Minny.  Bitter start to 2020!

Only water today. Made the mistake of opening a bottle of wine to myself after the wife went to bed early. And that was after quite a bit of wine before and at dinner. Not feeling my best self this morning.

I’m taking Alabama, probably close for a half or so but they pull away big in the second half when they’ve decided they’re done fucking around. Outside of Oklahoma-LSU, this is the biggest mismatch of the entire bowl season. Bama is not the 14th best team in America. Probably closer to the 5th or 4th best. It’s going to show big time today.

Coffee.
Alabama, Auburn, Wisconsin, Georgia
Only chance we have of not being blown out is 0 mistakes and we can somehow slow their run game. Alabama might not be excited about being in this game but at Alabama you can't afford to not bring your 'A' game because of Saban and all the talent behind you. They won't fold like Florida did a few years back.
