Games Played through 13: Special Teams, QB and RB

Last one.  My main takeaway is our QB room will be YOUNG unless we get another Alex Bowman type transfer.  Talented and exciting, but young.

Running backs will be young also but so full of potential.  Getting Cabana in next year will be a boost also.

The K/P situation will be interesting.  We have gotten highly rated recruits but they don't have much game/pressure experience.  We have to say a huge thank you to Robbins and Moody for being such a reliable and boring unit!  Let's hope Doman can be boring in a good way also.

It's almost like the staff knows how to build a roster to maintain success despite turning players over every year.

Thanks for putting this together.

RB room looks deep and so I'm surprised to see internet weirdos hoping we get a transfer from Wisconsin. I know Stokes isn't there yet, but he's a freshman and has seen action in 11 games. His speed and acceleration + another year of reps/practice should put him in a position to be a starter or  in a timeshare when Edwards leaves. Between Edwards, Stokes, Cabana and Mooseback Mullings/Mullins, the RB situation should be just fine.

I'm also interested to see how the QB room comes along. Does Davis Warren have enough to hold off Orji/Denegal and remain our backup and become a potential starter in 2024?

RB could use a transfer.  Cabana is a special talent, but he's also a pretty skinny dude.  He'll need some time to add weight.

QB would probably benefit from a grad transfer as well.  Some maturity and potentially a 3rd-string option might help.

As for K/P...I have no idea how good Samaha or Doman is, so it feels like a wait and see.

When they showed Herbert on camera during the B1G championship game this weekend I said to my son, “He is the most “I’m obviously a Strength and Conditioning coach” person I have ever seen in my life.” It’s like he bought a starter kit he refuses to quit using even though he’s made it now…

I think we’re fine at QB for next season…this is what we always wanted, development from our coaches so that it can become a natural order of progression in the room. JJ and Davis Warren will be Juniors. You still have the 2 young QB’s from the 2022 recruiting class as well as the walk ons. Let those guys train over the summer and improve, think they’ll be a lot better than what some imagine.

One last thing:  Here are the guys who have not played at all this year.

I don't know reasons for all of these - some are walk-ons, some are injured, some are ___.

A few are names we heard about during recruiting so hopefully they are deep into the Herbert Machine and they will come out crafted of twisted blue steel - ready to contribute!

Stokes was a freshman? Hoping hart can get him that sophomore bump so that he’ll be an important part of the running game soon. I know he’s kinda fast but his vision was sorely lacking I thought.
