Can't sleep. Went to the pep rally last night- very excited for today. Ft. Lauderdale is crawling with Michigan fans. Have yet to see a Seminole- but I know they can just drive down for the day (unfair). Will be cheering like crazy tonight!

Eight hours may be the arithmetic mean of travel time between the cities, but there is wide variance.  I find that travel time in Florida is inversely proportional to the product of the driver in front of you's:

  • (blueness of hair) X (head's distance above/below the top of their steering wheel).

I understand Waze is working on building this into their algorithm, while Google Maps continues to lag behind.

That maybe they weren't here yet because they can come down today and just need to stay at a hotel tonight. It's a bigger deal to travel down here from Michigan. Could you imagine how we would own the stadium if we were 6 hours away (by car) from a bowl game??!?! But looks good so far. I'll keep you posted when I there.

An FSU blog said, shortly after the game was announced, that FSU would have a pronounced home-field advantage with far more fans at the game.  I HIGHLY doubt it.  That's said by some FSU homer who has absolutely no idea how UM fans travel.  Plus, southern Florida is probably pretty well stocked with UM alums.  I expect more maize n blue than gold and whatever.

My question -- are any UM fans sticking around until Sunday to see Tom play @ the Phins?  Could be a two-for-one weekend for UM football.

Several years ago, was talking to some parents in our neighborhood (DC area) about colleges.  One of the moms was a die-hard, tomahawk-choppin' FSU grad.  When asked if she hoped her kids would go there, she laughed and replied:  "Oh hell no, it sucks" (i.e. lousy education).

And that pretty much summarizes everything you need to know about FSU.

Hell YEAH! Let's chop them down to size! Hey, FSU, to hell with your little pony, your garnet and gold glitter boys, all the FSU Cowgirls, and the entire Bowden family! Vengeance is ours, sayth Jim Harbaugh!

From Phuket, where I am unlikely to find a bar showing the game at 8am tomorrow, I say, Go Blue! Will be rocking M gear tomorrow in solidarity. The Russians who make up seemingly 90% of the tourists here may not understand but that's okay. Hail.

1/2 day of work then off to tailgate. Got tickets to the UM Tailgating Tent. Great Christmas morning giving our son a ticket to the game he thought there was no way we are going to. Benefits of living in South Florida.

is more arrogant here - FSU or Miami. But, having attended the last FSU - UM game in AA and living with that 1991 loss for the past 25 years I'll say it's FSU that's perpetually more arrogant. PLEASE, Jim Harbaugh, scalp those Seminoles tonight so I can enjoy being arrogant for the next 25 years here in Florida. (Kiss my ass, Paul Finebaum!)
