On Gallon

I'm a little hesitant to say it, but watching Jeremy Gallon's films and his cutting ability and change of direction... it reminds me of Barry Sanders a little.

Is Michael Jackson your father? OT. did you know the Urdu word for father is pater and for daughter is doctar (sp). Also JU means sky in many ancient languages and if you put Ju + Pater = sky father or Jupiter. Hence the search for a proto language for humans. I find stuff like that extremely interesting.

In Dari/Farsi, the word for father is padar (correcting your spelling on pater) and for daughter is dokhtar. In Urdu, the word for father is abu and for daughter is beyti. Classic Urdu stems from Dari/Farsi so it may be that the words for father and daughter are the same as they are in Dari/Farsi, but I only know how to speak Urdu as it is spoken today and abu and beyti are the words commonly used when referring to father and daughter.

Hindi/Urdu is indeed related to English (as are Sanscrit, Persian and some others from that region), but that shouldn't be taken as evidence of the existence of a universal human "proto-language." All of these languages are members of the same (Indo-European) family, so of course they have things in common. Now, if you could find links between say, English, Korean and Xhosa, then you might be on to something.

Still waiting for the first fellow fan to step out and compare an incoming HS recruit to a former failed top rated recruit... or, even to a lesser degree, compare an incoming HS recruit to anyone but an All American/NFL HOFer type

What would be the point of that. Since no one really knows how a recruit will turn out, thats not honesty, its pessimism. Being honest, truthful, and unbiased would imply that recruiting, or football for that matter, is actually important. Its not.

will campbell and marques slocum. Put film on and they look alot a like, both have trouble staying low, but both were freaks as far as strength and size go, and both were on the 4 star-5 star borderline

That being said, I think Gallon is the second best skill guy Rodriguez has gotten behind Toussaint. I believe they are really key to our offense over the next few years. I think they are special players and if they qualify will be multiple year starters.

...this is an instance where a more informative title would do some good. Thanks! As to the point of your post, maybe a little. A teeny bit. If Gallon goes on to rush for 2,200 yards and 30 TD's in 2010, I'll be very happy. Then I'll eat my hat.

All the top schools that did not offer Gallon a scholarship should have first contacted the mogobloggers, who seem to have a way of analyzing high school film and projecting success that is second to none.

"mogobloggers" don't predict success that's second to known, as the original poster said, Gallon reminds him of Barry Sanders "a little". Therefore, it's reasonable to assume that we predict success that is second only to Hall of Famers. ...Of course, since our entire team is therefore made up of future almost Hall of Famers we're still better then everyone else.

I'm not going to bother answering "what would be the point" of anything related to obsessing over/scouting/projecting HS recruits. The answer would be sad, because, yes, I waste my time on an obviously "pointless" topic all the time. But, um, doesn't the question apply with equal force to "what is the point in comparing recruits to HOFers?" I take my optimism with a dose of reality, is all. If Gallon is an All Big Ten type his last two years, I'd say "success!"

You all know he's gonna do some things in the slot that will make you spit out your beer or inhale one of those tiny choking-hazard chicken wings or both. Maybe not consistently, but i'm planning on wearing a bib anyway.

Then I think he is the next great video editor of our generation, and Michigan would be proud to have him. That video is great! timed to the music, little color shifts when he jukes a defender, running the video at about 1.3x speed to look faster. slo mo as he cuts past an out of place defender. seriously, this guy could make me look like Barry Sanders.

Gallon is very good. Barry Sanders good, not so much. I am definitely liking the way our slot receivers are looking though. Gallon only adds to our Ninja slot attack.

I don't take this as comparing his success to Barry Sanders. His running style kind of reminds me of him, in his cutting and lateral movement. I'm not saying he will be the next Barry Sanders, but their running styles have some similarities.
