Former Michigan hockey player Jason Botterill (who was part of the 1996 championship team) has been named as one of the Assistant General Managers for the NHL's newest expansion team, the Seattle Kraken.

Botterill was previously an associate and interim GM for the Penguins (and got his name on the Stanley Cup), and the GM for the Sabres.

I know him well too, (LSA 97). Still in touch with him.  Luhning and Morrison too, we were all Econ majors. And I agree, he’s a great and brilliant guy.   All 3 are but Luhning was the real brainiac. Their parties at the White St house were memorable. Especially when they each tried to drink a Busch Light cube in under an hour and Sloan pissed himself.  Fun times.

What a dumb name. Why Kraken?  What does it have to do with Seattle? It’s a mythical Scandinavian creature.

Why not something with fish or the forest? Even something with a mountain or play on the fact it rains a lot.  I Don’t get it at all.
