Floyd Raven still available?

Submitted by BKFinest on

Per Rivals, Raven is adamant that he never committed to Texas A&M, and that he's likely going to come to Ann Arbor this weekend.

It was posted on the Fort by both Balas and Helmholdt that while he is still considering them, he never committed to A&M.  Is visiting this weekend and has an unordered top 3 of Michigan, Ole Miss, and A&M.

Balas also posted that AggieYell mods seem down on their chances.

then I say let the DBs fill up this class. I think it's harder to have a DB develop than a D-Lineman because they not only have to grow physically but mentally as well. I know you don't get a great DT or DE overnight but there's not schemes to learn, basically just do what you did in HS but against stronger dudes.

Michigan has the luxury of being a big school in a part of the country that grows big corn-fed men that can fill your D-Line (i.e. J.J. Watt, Ryan Kerrigan, etc). Skilled DBs aren't as frequently found around these parts and should be gathered when possible. Plus it'll be nice to have enough depth to actually redshirt a couple without having to cross your fingers that one player doesn't get hurt through a whole season

for the state the secondary is in too much. If Troy stays healthy last year, Warren sticks around another year to prove he deserves to be drafted, Justin Turner worked out as thought, and Demar Dorsey didn't have the grades of Forrest Gump then M is real solid in the back 4. No way RR can be blamed for all that falling through and having to toss a bunch of 18 year olds at a solid lineup of WR/QB combos throughout the schedule.

I'll take as much as we can get, especially since the last 3 yrs our secondary has been below average (sometimes terrible). Some will project to safety or even WLB, and some will just be ST players so I say the more the better. The more top end talent like McClure and Raven would be great and welcomed addition. I think a lot of us are worried too much about how many recruits we can take, as we should be, but I'm sure we can take more than we think with not knowing about who will transfer/injured and not be able to come back and play. The coaches know what's up so I'll trust them to do what's best for the team

He'd be a nice pick-up. There will be some serious competition at DB next year and the years after.

Nobody saw Cissoko going all criminal either, thats what really sucks. We knew guys like Dorsey would not get in, but Cissoko should have been a stud. RR would have probably had his job if he and Warren hadn't been so stupid and Troy didn't get hurt. Troy,Warren and Cissoko as our starting backfield with guys like Floyd,Avery and Rogers (Plus VINOPAL!) becoming backups at best would have made for a very nice unit. The front 7 was actually good enough for a solid D, but the back 5 that couldn't cover or tackle left them hanging too often. Martin,Roh,Demens,RVB,C.Gordon isn't too bad.
