Finishing out the recruiting class

Submitted by Real and Spectacular on
Right now we sit at 20 commits and I believe we will likely end up at 32 or so. There has been some talk of up to 35 but that would require gray shirts and last year we heard low 30s was possible too and we ended up at 28. So I am going to guess the final 12 spots based on what I've read and my gut (No my gut doesn't mean anything like Sam Webbs gut does)

1. WR-DPJ

2. WR-Black

3. WR- Collins

4. OL- Banks

5. OL- Wilson

6. OL- Ruiz

7. DT- Retmaeir

8. DT- Solomon

9. DE- Irving-Bey

10. LB- Singleton

11. LB- Anthony

12. CB- Thomas

Although it's not everyone on the wish list, it would be an outstanding finish. Notable misses are WR Martin, RB Harris, OL Slaton, OL Leatherwood, OL Filiaga, DT Tufele, LB Gay, CB Holmes.

What are your thoughts on who we finish up with?

Of course we want the highest rated recruits.  And we are getting them!  We may not be recruiting above Alabama or osu but that's ok.  This is college football.  Coaching matters A LOT as we all know too well.  Going forward, we can beat osu in ANY game.  I've followed the Game for over 40 years.  Unless there is such a huge disparity in talent (see last year) which is very rare and won't happen as long as Harbaugh is around, we can beat them.  Upsets happen every week (see Iowa) and in rivalry games even more so.

We are in GREAT shape and will be able to compete even when we lose nfl talent like Peppers, Butt et al.  WE ARE MICHIGAN!!

on the O-line.  This list makes me sad because as we saw this year, the lack of a dominant O-line keeps you from closing out games

I think we only take 2 of Reitmaier, Solomon, and Irving-Bey. That spot would be filled by Gay as long as his grades check out, but I think he is in if they do. And Filiaga sounds more likely than Banks, but that is onlt because neither says anything to the media and Filiaga has the Polynesian connection. Slaton also seems likely and would maybe push out one of the current commits, but that's not applicable in the situation of no decommits.

That kids tape is insane. I know he plays against weaker competition, but many of those plays are opponent invariable. He high points the ball at 6'4, has enough elusiveness to be dangerous after the catch, and enough straight line speed to run past a corner sitting on a route. Reminds me a lot of Demaryius Thomas, or Braylon for those looking for a UM comparison. Not as physically gifted as Braylon, but hopefully won't have the drop issues

Cheshire Academy is high level football. Competition is Andover, Avon, Deerfield, Choate, Lawrence, Suffeild, Brunswick ... all are loaded with D1/D3 players doing a PG year after regular high school to improve grades/scores/exposure to get recruited at top academic colleges. PG players are recruited to these Prep boarding schools and often given financial aid.
