Sadly, more and more top players will (and should) sit out bowl games when they take note of what is happening to Butt here. Their careers are at stake.

Understood. Just know that I also think Fuck Ohio State even when I'm not looking at recruiting lists.

Every time I look at these lists I think the same thing. And that is fuck Ohio State.

Anyone that thinks Conley will have a better pro career than Peppers is delusional. I'm not being a homer here - I think Lattimore and Hooker are legit Top 10 picks. Conley was a good player that benefitted from being surrounded by exceptional talent. Peppers is a game-changer. These pundits are fools.

Just beat OSU. Then watch the 5-stars pile in.

The depth chart on this site show 88 scholarships allotted already. Any ideas where the 3-4 reductions might come from?
|15 weeks 2 days ago||safety||
I have high hopes for Metellus at safety. The last safety to flash such athleticism as a freshman was Kovacz. I always thought Hill and Thomas were average at best, and benefitted from having outstanding defenders around them. I wouldn't rule out the possibility that someone we currently think of as a CB plays more S next year. I long for the days of Tripp Welborne and Vada Murray.

I'm not as pessimistic about the OL. Yes, we lose Braden, Magnuson, and Kalis, but despite their lofty combined number of starts in their career, they simply weren't great, as their draft prospects confirm. I'm hopeful that replacing them with some combo of Onwenu, Ruiz, Bredeson, Newsome, and perhaps one unlikely suspect will actually be an improvement. Obviously the key is just how long it takes for the unit to get there.
I think the situation is somewhat comparable to LB from 2015 to 2016. We were all worried about LB in 2016, but the truth is, the 2015 LB's we lost were replaced quickly and effectively.

Doesn't second semester start a week from today? Reallistically wouldn't Harris have to make a decision within a few days of that? Honestly I'm surprised we don't have someone inside the FAA that can tell us whether he has a plane ticket to Detroit booked, a la De Niro in Meet the Parents.

Is Najee Harris announcing his decision tomorrow, or was that an unsubstantiated rumor?
|19 weeks 5 days ago||I couldn't disagree with you||
I couldn't disagree with you more. I remember Damon Webb saying that he chose OSU so that he could compete for national championships. I promise you that's what many of these kids are thinking. Take OSU out of the CFP and OSU loses some of its luster. One of the few things holding some recruits back from choosing Michigan is this stigma hanging over our heads that we cannot beat OSU.
Furthermore, I think it's ridiculous to assume that OSU will encounter major violations, just because they are a top team.

Hoke and Dantonio went for 2 to beat OSU. How'd that work out for them?

If this doesn't matter to potential recruits' parents, it should.

I think he'll be a beast next Fall, ESPECIALLY if Hurst is back and Mone makes strides.
|20 weeks 4 days ago||For the few stargazers||
For the few stargazers whining about OSU out-recruiting us, consider this: OSU has been racking up incredible classes since Meyer took over. Yet we were neck-and-neck with them in Columbus this year with the following starting players (according to ESPN):
On offense: (7) 4-stars and (4) 3-stars
On defense: (1) 5-stars; (6) 4-stars; (3) 3-stars; and (1) unranked (Glasgow)
Rankings mean something, but not everything.
|20 weeks 4 days ago||I think Filiaga is more||
I think Filiaga is more likely than Banks. A major coup would be to get RB Harris and DT Solomon. Will be disappointing if we get neither.
|20 weeks 5 days ago||Re trouble at SAM and safety,||
Re trouble at SAM and safety, I'm guessing you'll see Kinnel and Metellus at safety, and Khaleke Hudson will be used similar to Peppers. Hudson seems strong and athletic enough to at least try to take on that role.
I'm not so concerned about a dropoff at safety, because I don't think Delano Hill and Dymonte Thomas were all that great, but rather they benefitted from having a great DL and CB's. I see no reason why Kinnel/Metellus cannot be as good, or better, and hopefully quickly.

What are the odds that Brandon Peters surpasses Speight before opening game 2017?
|21 weeks 1 hour ago||Would you rather OSU get||
Would you rather OSU get destroyed in the semifinal or lose a close game by virtue of a horrible call? For the sake of recruiting I hope they get embarrassed. But for the sake of my faith in justice, I would consider the horrible call.
|21 weeks 5 hours ago||I agree that age has||
I agree that age has something to do with it. I am a 37-year-old lifelong Michigan fan, and I am sick to my stomach about the Orange Bowl. I believe in my heart that Michigan was robbed by biased referees and deserves to play in the CFP this year. My 72-year-old father is apoplectic. He hates OSU so much, I am convinced he hates them more than he loves Michigan. To him, Ohio State is the national championship. Anything after The Game is an exhibition.

I think it's clear that the committee values fewer losses over head-to-head result. Michigan and PSU will be the left-out teams. I will pray for exactly one thing for the next four weeks: that OSU is embarrassed in its semifinal game. Most importantly, do we think Clemson or Washington has a better chance of doing that? With OSU's luck, they will surely play the lesser team.
|21 weeks 1 day ago||Agreed. The BTCG is for the||
Agreed. The BTCG is for the Rose Bowl. Contrary to what another poster said, I think Holcutt cemented Michigan being first in line by saying the committee regards Michigan as the best 2-loss team.
Fergodsakes, the committee basically said they considered Michigan almost on same level with 1-loss Washington. My gut is that the committee regards Michigan's loss to OSU as something slightly less than a full loss. A 3/4 loss, if you will.
|21 weeks 1 day ago||if Clemson loses, we're in||
Those people that believe the Big Ten champ would leapfrog Michigan underestimate voters' propensity to take the lazy approach.
Undefeated teams first, 1-loss teams second, and 2-loss teams third. Beyond that, if there is a head-to-head result, go with it.
It is substantially easier for the voters to justify ranking 2-loss Michigan ahead of the 2-loss Big Ten champion by virtue of the head-to-head result than it is to do the mental gymnastics of rationalizing why the Big Ten champion deserves it over Michigan.
The head-to-head result is a "cover your ass" variable for the voters to lean on. These guys don't want to go out on a limb.
|21 weeks 2 days ago||I agree that requiem is often||
I agree that requiem is often misused. I thought it was appropriate. I meant to comment on the demise of any courage in the voting process and celebrate this one man's fleeting moment of audacity in the face of that.

If Clemson and Washington lose, I suspect it will be Alabama vs. Clemson and OSU vs. Michigan. Why? Because money.
|21 weeks 3 days ago||I think it's highly unfair to||
I think it's highly unfair to differentiate between early-season losses vs. late-season losses. Why should Wisconsin be rewarded for scheduling Ohio State early, when we are forced to play them last every year. I have to believe the committee appreciates this.
|21 weeks 3 days ago||call it emotional insurance.||
call it emotional insurance. allstate should sell it.
|21 weeks 3 days ago||I disagree. I believe that||
I disagree. I believe that the committee will value head-to-head over conference championship for two 2-loss teams. Furthermore, Wisconsin would be 1-2 vs. highly-ranked teams, and Michigan is 3-1 against them.
|21 weeks 3 days ago||You may very well be right.||
You may very well be right. My gut is that the committee says that it doesn't consider margin of victory to deter teams from running up scores, however by saying that Michigan's loss to OSU was "impressive," it sounds to me like it does differentiate between various types of losses.
Also, by saying that Michigan is behind Wash by a razor-thin margin, I believe the committee is signaling that it sees some separation between Michigan and the teams it beat, just behind them.

Ask yourself how much you would pay for Michigan to be in the CFP. Bet that amount.
