I'm sure the coaches anticipated both Newton and Fairly leaving. I am also beginning to wonder if Frost just says "forget Auburn." When you commit to a school and then they don't get back to you in a week, why stick with them.
Frost, our helmet has wings.

Not sure, but I think it has to do with the yearly max of 25... I'm not sure why they just don't oversign like every other team in the SEC and ruin kids lives. Whatever.
Edit: They have 17 currently so this is not the case. No idea why they can't take Frost.

no one in CFB oversigns more than Auburn. They've signed 116 recruits in the last 4 years. And for the curious, your common villians Alabama and LSU have signed 113 and 102 respectively.

This kid committed, but he's probably gonna get the axe. Roll Tide.

Auburn =/= Alabama

I don't want Ole Miss to go without mention here, either. They signed 115 in the past four years (37!! in 2009), and already have another 26 committments for this year.

... They already have 2 receivers commited in this class, and another considering. Maybe the class isnt full, just the position.

Auburn was recruiting him as a linebacker who would be temporarily allowed to try out WR. They were able to flip Brent Calloway on Saturday, and he was a LB who had previously committed to Alabama. This took away the spot Auburn had been holding for Frost in their class.
It was basically a "Whoever commits first gets the roster spot" situation, and Frost arrived a bit late.
Hopefully this works out well for us.

The staff must of known that Newton and Fairley were gone. But who knows.
January 14th, 2011 at 1:32 PM ^
must have known...
... gone, but who knows?
January 14th, 2011 at 1:49 PM ^
They knew.

Fairley certain Auburn will remain cold on Frost.
January 14th, 2011 at 1:41 PM ^
well it was a good try...
January 14th, 2011 at 1:36 PM ^
... Oversign to anticipate extra scholorships when players leave for the draft, im sure they were ready for this. It shouldn't change the status for frost at auburn
January 14th, 2011 at 1:51 PM ^
And except for all of those unfortunate, completely unexpected medical situations, Alabama's number would have certainly been lower.
January 14th, 2011 at 1:54 PM ^
why in the hell is he still considering them? he's been publicly embarrassed by the school. he should say screw them and go to the school that made room for him.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:07 PM ^
may be him wanting to play for the defending national champions and not a team who just had a coaching change.
January 14th, 2011 at 3:26 PM ^
is so embarrassed from making a mis-declaration on national TV that he's hoping their eventual taking him would wipe that out.
Considerations might be that a defensive-minded coach wouldn't give him a try at WR, which was his hope. But I do hope Hoke can persuade him he's far better off here. Would love to have him come back.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:05 PM ^
It should clear some cap room
January 14th, 2011 at 2:07 PM ^
It is strange that a SEC team can't make room for someone like Frost.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:12 PM ^
that's fine by me, come to Ann Arbor Frost, I'm sure Michigan can find a spot for ya!
Go Blue!
January 14th, 2011 at 2:32 PM ^
Frost sees the light and ditches Auburn. They've treated him like dirt.
I also hope Fairley breaks a leg, literally. He's such a dirty player and his style of play will come back to haunt him in the NFL, especially from guys who went to UGA.
Ugg... pisses me off that a guy like that will get paid millions.
/end rant, sorry, cannot stand Fairley.
January 14th, 2011 at 4:04 PM ^
Is it even assured that he will reconsider UM if he doesn't get love from Auburn?
