Experienced Florida St EDGE in Portal
McLendon ranked second among defensive linemen on the Florida State team in 2022 with 37 tackles. He finished with five tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.
In 2021, McLendon recorded 4.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. After graduating in December, McLendon will be a grad transfer at his next school.
Florida St has added D Linemen through the portal. They may be looking to develop younger players.
Apparently he has 2 years left in college.
There is no indication yet where he may go. Michigan appears to be EDGE U. He could do worse.
With our D losses, especially the Okie transfer, he’s probably worth a look for some experience, no? And no transfer credits to worry about.
Can’t tell you how much I love that I’m not desperate for this kid to come to Michigan because we’re so loaded
I'm also EDGEing
Let it go already...
I'm sure you kick the tires and see if he's interested but he's also a Georgia kid and I assume will probably look to stick in the south. That said he did get a UM offer during his HS recruiting so there is at least some general familiarity.
Edit: not an original thought apparently
Can he play as a stretch 4?!

I’m pleasantly surprised that Michigan hasn’t lost any more players to transfer, especially among the O-linemen, but wondering whether there might be more activity after Spring Practice ends.

That is a reasonable concern. I really like all our OL guys and hope they stay and get some starts or at least significant playing time. Might not be possible to keep all of them but like them all.
Theres a transfer portal window now. For football you could only enter the portal between December 5th and January 18th. The next window is May 1st thru May 15th. The only exception to this window is grad transfer players.
So that explains the lack of transfer activity going on.
I'm expecting there will be after the spring game, notably at wr.

We have like 110,000 guys on scholarship.
What's one more will hurt.
Like in the pros he completed his rookie contract now he wants to get paid
I agree with this. That is the first thing i thought of when i read it. I would rather take a mid 3-star recruit who is raw and has a high ceiling.
Yeah I’m also not real intrigued by this one. I think Michigan is pretty set at edge right now and this wouldn’t be an addition that moves the needle much at all for me. Rather see guys like Moore, MacGregor and Josiah Stewart getting those snaps.
Agreed. Bring another guy in and risk another leaving. We seem stocked at DE after getting Stewart. Actually was concerned Moore might bolt because of it.
We could probably use some more depth but can probably roll with McGregor and Moore as more traditional EDGE guys and Stewart and Harrell as Hybrid guys.

It is a great feeling to be able to hear this news and not care whether he might be considering Michigan.
Only position that seems somewhat uncertain is CB.
The team is loaded everywhere with experienced and young talent.

We're probably good on edge depth, the one that got away this cycle was that Ole Miss CB.
The last good edge rusher we had almost won the Heisman, and his comrade went in the 2nd round despite blowing out his Achilles pre-draft. It's hard to have a better sales pitch than that.
McLendon was a solid player but not a high-impact guy. He probably wasn't going to start for the Seminoles and wouldn't here either.
Taking a flyer on a high ceiling, multi-year starting edge with elite burst like Josiah Stewart (Uche 2.0) makes total sense, but just throwing another body into the mix does not.
