Luiji Vilain has entered the transfer portal as per social media

Michigan's Luiji Vilain just appeared in the NCAA Transfer Portal ......second Michigan player in two days.

Disappointing loss but good luck to Luigi. Hopefully he can stay healthy and have a big impact in 2021.

hope Michigan can get back to having that 8 man rotation. I feel it’s so important to have depth in the trenches

He was an overrated recruit.  Or he just was a bust.  Or 2020 doesn’t count.  Or he didn’t play well with others.  Or other guys jumped him on the depth chart.  Etc.

His lack of success and ultimate transfer is not because of Harbaugh and this system.  I repeat, not Harbaugh!

I will admit when recruits are overrated, but I don't think that's the case with him. Something went wrong with him. I'm leaning toward blaming injury (he basically didn't play in 2017 or 2018 due to injuries). But the bottom line is that he just wasn't the same athlete in 2019-2020 that he was in 2016 when he was playing high school ball. He lost some burst.

Also, his technique was poor. He's one of the main reasons I question Shaun Nua. Because I think Greg Mattison would have coached him into being a decent player (not great, but serviceable) even with the lack of explosiveness, but Nua just couldn't do anything with him.

I have no way of knowing either Magnus, but I lean a little the other direction. Sometimes there are injuries keeping you from playing time and sometimes there are injuries that just coincide with no playing time.

I wish him well in his future endeavors (I hope he got his degree too) but I'm also not surprised he would leave given the "shakeup" vibe going on in the program.

The coaching staff is going to have a tough time putting out a functional defense next season.  Vilain wasn't great by any stretch but would have played a bunch this coming season.  I wish the kid the best.  It seems like injuries derailed his football career.

One of the more useful spots on the board when a thread disappears inconspicuously is the Thread Moderator Sticky.  https://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/moderator-action-sticky-2020

This is also where you can go to report people who may be breaking board rules. Or just chat with Seth and RobF.

I noticed the original thread was gone when attempting to reply to some moron claiming we should seek recruits who want to attend the school not play for coaches, as if they're wearing a shirt that says "I'm monotheistic. And singular in thought." On second glance, I should make that shirt for posters here.

I wish I could say that most of the transferring players had enough production to be missed, but for whatever reason they have not been able to capitalize on their talent while here.  Hopefully they have better luck at their next stops.

Not just you.

We have a significantly higher % of our top recruits transfer. From 2016-2018 over half of our top 200 recruits transferred. And something like 40% of our top 100 recruits from 2016-2018 transferred.

It's bad, and something that most people don't want to address. Because if they can lump the low 3 stars that transferred from Bama and OSU, and show that we're "about average" compared to the nation, then that means half of our best recruits transferring is somehow "not a problem".

Not surprising.

But all credit to him for staying this long and helping the depth, thanks Luigi.

Most of Partridge's recruits bailed as soon as the road to playtime wasn't easy.
