ESPN NOT ONBOARD

Submitted by Waynes World on

Adam Schefter just reported on ESPN Sportcenter that Harbaugh to Michigan is not a done deal. This just happened at about 8:20 am.

Schefter said he wouldn't be surprised at all to see JH at a Michigan presser on Tuesday.  He said that Oakland, maybe the Jets, maybe Chicago would make offers.  When he said, "not a done deal" I interepreted that as no signed contract.  All of that sounds factual, and that's what he's reporting.

no easy he wouldn't want Jim in AA. He said so the last search. It's just a literal fact that it's not technically a "done deal" as he has not stepped foot on the BB court or a UM presser podium to say how happy he is to be THE HC AT THE UNIVERSITY of MICHIGAN. Until he does that, all evidence aside, it's not done.

it happens often (a few times to me) and had I noticed it last night I'd have agreed with you. I still refuse to call this a done deal UNTIL HE'S AT THE GAME or HE'S AT A UM PODIUM SAYING HE'S THE NEW MICHIGAN HC. Yes, caps needed. It's NOT a "done deal" in the literal sense. I said two weeks ago that I won't listen to anything that doesn't come from the mouth of Coach or Hackett. I know the evidence is overwhelming. I know if I were a betting man I'd put almost everything I have on it. Yet, it's not a done deal until it is and anyone but coach or Hackett saying it is means I'm not acting like it is. I'd have agreed with you, if that helps. AS is not "wrong", he's reporting what is actual fact with regard to it "being done".

yes he is. He just hides it SO MUCH better than Smith, Spielman, Galloway, etc. Herbie has to appear to be subjective because he's ESPN's main CFB guy. He can't be blatantly bent to one side but just look at his politicking for osu into the playoffs over TCU/Baylor. TCU was 3 and blew out ISU in a game they were told they only had to beat badly. Their lone loss was to Baylor where they led at one point by 3 scores and lost by 3pts after a late meltdown. osu loses to VT, psu takes then to the wire, the B1G was a joke this year, etc. They beat a one truck pony UW in their worst game of the year (admittedly by a lot). Most thought TCU should stay but drop to 4, Many thought osu deserved the 4 spot but almost everyone was reserved to bring ok with either.....except Herbie. He was out there like urban was in '06. It was embarrassing as he was getting vitriolic about it, legit red faced. That said, I think osu can beat Bama. Sims is either great or terrible and osu will score, Jones or not. I think TCU/Baylor were robbed but osu can make the run. Regardless, Herbie has his one a year mask removed to show his true colors. He does do a decent job hiding it most if the time so I don't hate him. Yet, he's a bg homer when it's on the table. Both he and Spielman tin their masks off during the osu tatgate investigation, too.

that the outcome of the game could have a negative or positive effect on the timeline. Like, how quickly it could happen & worst case.....second thoughts. Unlikely but I have a bad feeling. /hope my "feelings system" is noticed b4 neg

Basically every coaching hire that has ever been made is reported before a contract is acutally signed.

ESPN is really damaging their already fading reputation with this stunt.  Even CBS reported it after La Canfora made himself like a fool reporting it wouldn't happen.

What's his problem with this? Wouldn't you think a Michigan grad would be happy about this news? I used to like this guy, not to sure about him anymore.

Professional? Why start now? Many of his comments on the issue to this point had a clear (not-Michigan) bias to them. So what does it matter now? Oh, right. His earlier comments saying no chance in hell (paraphrasing here, someone can embed the Vince McMahon theme if they wish) are now beyond obvious for the load of bullshit they were and still are. Now he has to take "great care" with how he phrases something. To hell with him.

Is Schefter just being held back by the corporate flacks? I mean he HAS to know that it's done so maybe it's just his bosses who are controlling the release of information. Fuck 'em all.
