Eli Brooks appreciation thread

Submitted by victors2000 on February 19th, 2020 at 9:30 PM

This man deserves an appreciation thread, that was a cold blooded dagger he launched around the 3:30 mark in a game still up for grabs. He's a glue guy; rebounds, assists, points. Defense. He's a guy that's grown into a very dependable player. There was a time I'd rather had someone else on the floor earlier in the season; that time has passed.

He was playing better earlier in the season than he has lately....He wasn't shooting well tonight either but he finally hit a big one. I can't believe how well Mcfly I mean Castleton played. He was the spark that brought them back in the 2nd half.

He went through a slump for a few games but has been on fire recently! We are a legit under the radar team to make the final four. Just please get livers healthy!!

Yes. From a guy I thought who might not hit, to a huge surprise around tourney time last year and being extremely solid this season. Eli Brooks deserves an apology from me, simply for the misguided thoughts I had about him in his earlier years. He has rounded out well and looks like a smaller version of Livers. Very good looking shot, fluid stroke with lots of confidence. I realize we see countless threads and discussions about the 5*s coming in and how they will demand playing time, but you are out of your gourd if you think Brooks isn’t at the top end for minutes

Nice sentiment but these appreciation threads get to be a little much sometimes. We appreciate the whole team when they win.

Can’t put a price on having a strong defender on opposing guards.  That shot tonight was absolutely clutch.  He misses that and Rutgers has a chance to cut it to 4 or 3 w/ over 3:00 to go.  Instead he nails the dagger and the 9 pt lead was insurmountable.

He does the gritty work, has made huge contributions this year...a lot of guys are hitting their stride, if one guy isn’t on for a game (like Johns) then plug in another baller or two

Brooks has become a huge part of Michigan's success.
He is underappreciated on this blog and it's a shame.

He has several big shots this year that either change the course of the game, or keep the momentum in Michigan's favor.

And very solid on D.

We are lucky to have him. This year.... and next!

To you Eli!

Eli is having a good junior year. That was a beautiful pass he threw to a cutting DDJ late in the game.

We could have a nice core of returning vets next year to go with the talented freshmen.

Yes to this!

I'm excited for all of the 5* players, but hoping we don't become like Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, etc...where it's like an NBA farm team.  I enjoy watching players evolve over the years and feeling like I've gotten to know them.

A handful of experienced, steady junior/senior vets like Livers (if he comes back), Brooks, DDJ, Johns and Castleton combined with a handful of young 4*/5* players feels like a formula for a Final Four run!

Yeah Brooks is pretty awesome. He's got that great floater/tear drop and I like how confident he releases his mid range shots and 3 point shots. Always good rotation and a lot of splashes. I'm very happy to have him on the team this season and next season as a Senior he should be even better.
