Early Keys to PSU

Submitted by northernmich on October 13th, 2019 at 3:32 PM

Brian and crew will have a much more thorough analysis than I will, however, here are some keys to next Saturday’s game:

Run the ball effectively. M doesn't need to try and score 40 on PSU, if they try that it will turn into quick 3 and outs while gassing our D. M needs to slow the game down, limit possessions and take their shots carefully (that doesn’t mean there should be none atall). They can win still only scoring around 24 points.

Roll outs, roll outs roll outs. Shea is what he is, get him on the move and in rhythm early, limit throws over the middle, and just scrap the screens.

Get pressure on Clifford. He folds after about 2 seconds in the pocket, Iowa was super effective getting push right in his face.

Do not attempt to try and cover Hamler 1 on 1. Dax and Ambry will wear out over the course of the game and he will bust a few in the second half when we need stops.

Stick with Moody, don’t even have Nordin travel.

Finally, if Michigan does win, do they vault into the top 10?

Fuckin Right Doggy that’s good cake. It began the second the clock hit 0 yesterday. This is what we do, on to the next, get pumped. 6-7 weeks from now we’ll be wishing there was a big road game to look forward to.

Look for Shea to run alot this week, also I think DM will play quite a bit.

Reality on MGoBlog is that most real "homers" get downvoted actually, and rightfully so.

Some people here actually think being overdramtic like kids who give up after something goes wrong is the only way of not being a homer. Anything other than that and you're a homer. Truth is being realistic is somewhere in between typical MGoBlog posters and being a "homer."

Saying this team probably will go 6-6 or 5-7 is just as bad as saying this team will probably go 11-1. It doesn't make you some sort of rational thinker who isn't biased like people who think more optimistically.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. You're being overdramatic.

Our probability of win vs Indiana is probably similar to our probability of loss to OSU. Our probability of win vs MSU and Maryland are probability similar to our probability of loss to Penn State and ND.

A 3-3 record is not being generous and being a homer. It's rather realistic. You're intentionally downplaying the chance that we beat PSU/ND and intentionally overplaying the chance that we lose to two of the lesser teams in order to be dramatic.

Dax and Ambry will wear out over the course of the game

Dude, where's your faith in our two best cover guys?

My key: the defense is going to have to come up big against them like they did last year. Michigan will win if they do. But if there's any defensive lapse in the 60 minutes, well....

Not sure why the OP feels the need to slobber over Hammler and crap on our CBs.

Yesterday, Hammler only had 1 TD and 7 catches for 61 yards. He had a few big drops and didn't do much in the return game. His one TD (and several catches) were when he was being covered by an LB...and not a fast LB like McGrone.

We need a healthy lavert and josh ross to limit their passing game. Offense needs to hold on to the fckin ball. We need to get out to an early lead. Maybe then we'll only lose by 10...

play to win, dont play not to lose.  60 mins of smart, fast, tough ball.

D needs to tackle well - shed blocks and play physical, especially the DBs.  and get after the QB with disciplined pressure.  limit the easy yards and conversions clifford wants to steal with his legs.

as for the O, well see - hopefully it looks coherent though with some confidence and trust across the board

In the past five years please tell me when Harbaugh has truly gone for an extra score at the end of the first half. Not the bullshit run a couple plays to get the clock down to 30 seconds and then try a couple passes.

This is one of the biggest differences between Harbaugh and the elite college coaches. Other  coaches know you can never have enough points.
