What's noteworthy is that Illinois has a new defensive coordinator. We've been told that changing coordinators screws up your program stability. That doesn't seem to be a problem for them in the least.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:39 PM ^
Slightly more noteworthy: they have upperclassmen.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:44 PM ^
Are you suggesting that it's only possible to change coordinators when your defense has a certain percentage of upperclassmen?
The half-baked defenses of GERG are getting tiresome. Do you really believe that with one more year of coaching our guys, we're going to see radical improvement? This is a man who has fielded five consecutive atrocious defenses ('06'-'08 at SU, '09-'10 at UM). At some point you call a spade a spade.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:59 PM ^
It's not a defense of Robinson, it's just a statement that I don't think Bo Pelini (or whoever, I like Pelini) could make our defense good. We don't have the players.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:33 PM ^
ESPN saying their are rumors Brewster is done if Purdue wins today. Anyone hear anything about this?

Dr. Saturday had something yesterday:

I thought letdowns were creatures of the past now with MD. Afterall, MSU is 3-0 after beating M the last three years. But it sure looks like a letdown so far.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:40 PM ^
3-0? MSU hasn't won this game yet.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:42 PM ^
Right. 2-0. Sorry 'bout that. The way it's going there's no way it becomes 3-0.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:35 PM ^
Why hasn't Illinois thrown at Sparty's freshman corner?? Dam Zook.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:37 PM ^
Slippery rock has only lost one game this year AFAIK.
wait... Brian should do a 2 deep comparison of our D to Slippery Rock!
October 16th, 2010 at 1:43 PM ^
LOL Minnesota. Just lol.
October 16th, 2010 at 2:05 PM ^
Scheelhaase is handing off to the RB on every zone read. Looks like MSU is always going for the running back just like the did with Denard.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:48 PM ^
says the BTN announcer when the MSU player is at the 30 and has 2 Illini players near him.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:49 PM ^
Someone needs to tell MSU that play action isn't working at all.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:50 PM ^
It's good that MSU is being stifled by Illini 6-3. Hopefully the Illini do not stifle Michigan as well when they play later this season. But right now, we are all Illini fans ;)

GO FIGHT WIN RETAIN EMPLOYMENT
October 16th, 2010 at 2:05 PM ^
Glenn Mason is smiling.
October 16th, 2010 at 2:16 PM ^
You're right. Minny didn't know what they had with Mason. I said it the day they fired him.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:59 PM ^
to not know what the fuck a reverse is. Announcing pet peeve #1.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:59 PM ^
A breakdown in coverage there by Illinois.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:59 PM ^
They keep talking about how Cousins is amazing at the play action. I haven't seen it...
TD Sparty
October 16th, 2010 at 2:01 PM ^
TD Minnesota
Nevermind. Penalty lol
October 16th, 2010 at 2:06 PM ^
Fumble recovery by MSU. Illinois reciever just had to fall on the ball but tried scooping it up
October 16th, 2010 at 2:08 PM ^
The receiver tried to pick it up and run...awful.
Edit: That's really close, tough call on whether or not he's down.
October 16th, 2010 at 2:06 PM ^
Land on it, or Knock it the he'll out of bounds!
October 16th, 2010 at 2:06 PM ^
Do our kickers work with Barwis on leg strength? Why do we seem to be the only team that always kicks it short?
October 16th, 2010 at 2:20 PM ^
I think 90% of kicking distance comes from technique not raw leg strength, assuming one's leg meets some minimum threshold.
October 16th, 2010 at 2:08 PM ^
That Illi catch/fumble was a terrible call. His knee was obviously down.
October 16th, 2010 at 2:09 PM ^
I'm gonna go ahead and blame that on Zook too.
October 16th, 2010 at 2:10 PM ^
Stop trying to score a TD yourself and fall on the ball for your team.
October 16th, 2010 at 2:11 PM ^
October 16th, 2010 at 2:17 PM ^
have you seen Cousins' play fakes? They're awesomeness
October 16th, 2010 at 2:13 PM ^
Guys, I'm starting to get scared about our game against Purdue.
October 16th, 2010 at 2:19 PM ^
Remember, Minnesota is BAD! Really bad.
October 16th, 2010 at 2:22 PM ^
I haven't heard much about Minnesota, but I have never seen them at a good point in my life, so yeah.
October 16th, 2010 at 2:33 PM ^
That could make you under 5 years old, or under 60, depending on how much "good point" is...
October 16th, 2010 at 2:15 PM ^
Awesome music during the break Sparty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUjdiDeJ0xg
October 16th, 2010 at 2:15 PM ^
Two guys on that play and neither one can see it's OB
October 16th, 2010 at 2:16 PM ^
Between Zook, the officials, and Chris Martin this game features a stunning amount of incompetence.
October 16th, 2010 at 2:18 PM ^
3 trips, net 2 yds and one FG...maybe 2 FG now
October 16th, 2010 at 2:23 PM ^
The MSU net-raisers cannot figure out how to put up the field goal net.
October 16th, 2010 at 2:27 PM ^
Ours are unnecessary and haven't had a lot of practice.
October 16th, 2010 at 2:29 PM ^
I applaud your humor
October 16th, 2010 at 2:36 PM ^
Souveniers for everyone!
October 16th, 2010 at 2:26 PM ^
That's worrisome. However, home teams are doing ok. That's good. (Indiana was an underdog to Ark St., right? ;-). )
October 16th, 2010 at 2:28 PM ^
Illinois is in full implode mode now
October 16th, 2010 at 2:33 PM ^
They are in the Zook Zone now; or fully Zooked.
October 16th, 2010 at 2:34 PM ^
It's that good. But I don't know that the Zook era will last long enough to be worth your while.
October 16th, 2010 at 2:35 PM ^
A run on 3rd and goal from the 10? There has been some terrible coaching in this game.
