DRob wins Capital One Performance of the week; Herbstreit: Top performer of CFB so far

Just now on Sportscenter, Kirk Herbstreit shared a few thoughts on our QB.

Kirk:  In terms of actual performance against quality opponents, he is on top.  Most impressive over 2 weeks, long way to go though.

Denard also won the Capital One Cup Performance of the Week with 65% of the vote, Landry Jones of Oklahoma was second with 15%.

When I made this topic, I was hoping for something more interesting, but there it is.  I guess that's why you wait til after these segments to make it =p

He says DRob is the most impressive so far. I don't think anyone can argue that. DRob might be the best athlete in college football, but it's hard to say he's the best after just 2 weeks of real playing time.

Before the year I bought The Wolverine's preview magazine.  (I also, of course, bought HTTV 2010.)  The magazine had a list of what it considered the top 25 Big Ten players.  The only Michigan player on there was Mike Martin at #17.  That was kind of a buzzkill.

I looked back at that list yesterday and wondered where Denard would be now.  I'm legitimately hard-pressed to think of anyone in the conference who could definitely be considered a better player.  (Greg Jones was #1 on that list, btw.)  I mean really . . . who would you rank higher than Denard?  Clay?  Pryor?  Royster?

I read in the wolverine magazine my dad gets it before the season and it had a lot of stuff on denard from opposing players.

They asked a lot of other Big Ten players at the media day in chicago and a lot of people said that if Denard can learn how to throw he could be scary good.  Most said he was so predictable last year it made defending him easy; which we all knew.

I think just about every person though mentioned if he would learn to pass he would be stupid good.

are lying if they said "easy." Predictable, yes. But michigan basically said, "Hey Iowa, we're going to snap to this kid and he's going to run it. We know you know he's probably not going throw. That's okay. You try to stop him anyway."

1st and 10 at MICH 41 Denard Robinson rush for 8 yards to the Mich 49. 21 30

Didn't end well for Maize & Blue but it wasn't "easy" for the Hawks.

Denard Robinson has had the most impressive performance in the first two weeks of the season. I doubt that there's anyone who would seriously argue to the contrary. The only argument is whether he can keep doing it...and frankly, it's a pointless discussion when new evidence is available every Saturday. At the end of the season—once it is no longer possible for the evidence to change every week—the arguments can begin.

i'm loving all this positive press.  And what a hero Denard is becoming, leading Michigan past ND on the road.  Taking care of a tough opener with UCONN.  Two weeks in a row... Dominating real opponents.  Gritty lil' sophomore making me proud.  Hail Denard.  Go Blue.
