drinking thread and boss bitch

Submitted by wigeon on
Tough week here hard by the shore of Lake Michigan. Lots of snow, plowing, and all the associated bullshit. Nerves were frazzled, kids had to be shuttled, and suddenly i was on deck for dinner. I was just about to order pizza when i had stellar idea. 1. Brown meat. In this case it was duck sausage, but anything will do. 2. Add tomatos and onion to meat. On low 3; season to taste 4. Answer stoopid email from disconnected boss who has no grasp of reality. (Hey do you really think you can do 300k in February?). Yes you shitfuck, i can. 5. Brown corn tortilla 6. Spoon meat over browned tortilla and cover with cheese. Kill a Sierra Nevada and fire off belligerant email questioning bosses value. 7. Pull shit from 350 degree oven, smother in sour cream, and send another ratfuck email to boss asking why exactly he skipped the 10:00 call this morning and missing the explanation that the management team completely endorsed the solution, the only fucking thing he could've possibly contributed. 8. Eat. Long week. Thank God for this here cold beer. Drinking thread? Ok.

He said 300k in February. Not in a single run. While it is still a tall order it's not nearly the long shot you have made it out to be. It's only like 7 miles a day.

Come to,think of it, I've done well over that in all my marathon training.

is one of the more rational and thoughtful things I've read today.  Thank you.

And it's Glenlivet to start for me.  Hockey game on TV with the MGoBride.  Sauvignon blanc with a side of Alaskan sockeye I smoked on the WSM, vacuum sealed, and froze last June.

Scotch followed up by wine? I can stomach just about anything (I'm of Scottish descent), but I do get a bit of a hangover if I mix that type of thing...

On the other hand, that sockeye sounds awesome!

sorry about the tough week.  careful re:  boss-whipping unless you want to get fired, which is indeed something that you may actually want.

as for weather, well, it's winter.  blowing snow and single digits, -15 outside with wind chill is fine.  spring is here next month.  fields rest in the meantime and like the moisture when it thaws.  snow is good for them.

will have some white wine when i start to BBQ the salmon.   its the only time i'll drink white.

go wings tonight.  go blue tomorrow.

who's around for me to do the first 'mgoprofiles'  if some of you OG's are here i'll start it.

I lead a very boring life.  I grilled some chicken and had 3 Coors light and only now switching to Torpedo.  I can't start with Torpedo, but like switching to darker, tastier beers as the evening progresses.  Of course the obligatory 7-7s later.

BTW...if you haven't tried Jack Danies BBQ sauce, you should. Its really good.

Some red wine and will watch UM-Wisconsin hockey. Tomorrow I travel with my boss and another colleague to Brazil for a week. They are both Buckeyes. As implausible as it may seem, they are both very reasonable people.

Enjoying a Bells Smitten Golden Rye Ale. I'm in week 2 of 4 for my paternity leave for my 2nd kid, so not only do I not have any work to complain about, I am a boss (and hopefully my employees are enjoying temporarily not having a boss to bitch about).

Thank you and good luck to you! It's actually 12 weeks of paid parental leave that's been scheduled for me, but I'm only planning on using 4 of them. I am extremely fortunate I work for a company that affords men the oppurtunity to stay home with a newborn for longer than many/most working women even get to. I wish more people like yourself had that same option, but that's a topic for another blog.

Thank you! And yeah that's awesome for you. Yeah, I'm sure if I absolutely tried hard enough I could find some way to get better pod leave for paternity, but as most find (and even with you taking 4, rather than 12 weeks) it's not worth it and it just makes you look better if you take the minimum or so. Besides, sometimes being at work is a luxury when you have a newborn at home lol.
