I would take the 2007 Mountaineers against most of these quarterbacks' teams at the height of their powers. Not against Young's, and not against Leinart's, though. I think either of those dudes is a completely reasonable pick.

VY refused to lose on the biggest stages. Unfortunately one of those stages was against us. But how sweet was it when he rushed for the game winning TD against USC, and the pic if him standing with the confetti falling... He has my vote.

To me, Young and Smith are almost interchangeable. Maybe it is because of the rivalry, but I always respected what Smith was able to do on the field, especially his senior year. Sure, he had his demons and off-the-field problems, but he was one of the best QBs this decade. Put him on Texas, I still think that team wins the NC. When OSU lost to Florida, a major reason was the loss of Ted Ginn after the kickoff TD. Without a deep threat, Florida was able to change its defensive plan and take away some options for Smith. Then Tressel got tense, went back to Tressel-ball, and we all saw how that played out. Because VY won some memorable games against some big-name teams, he will probably be remembered as the QB of this decade. But as much as it pains me to say it, Troy Smith should probably be in the conversation as well.

were McNabb against UM in '98, and VY against us and USC. Leinart, White, and Smith are worthy of consideration, but I'd vote for Vince.

He had me in tears against us and shouting for joy against USC and just plain amazed the rest of the time. Also, it's not too late to vote for Jake in the O Line category, although his lead is so large that any more is just piling it on.

when i saw this topic, i thought that without the choice of a michigan qb, i would vote for white. then i saw the name vince young and remembered that each of his strides was a first down in the rose bowl.

Henne only had that 2006 season. He doesn't get a lot of credit for '04 because of Braylon. Apparently the MSU game that year (best 4th quarter and OT ever) was all Braylon. In '05 he was pretty average. And he has hurt all of '07. I believe if given the right weapons in Miami, he will be regarded as a better QB than Brady. He will not have the fear of being considered a "system QB" in the NFL. Oh yeah, and they'd need to get rid of that damn Wildcat.

The '07 Rose Bowl would disagree. The one where he played toe to toe with Vince Young, who should win the damn poll. And he played the 05 season behind an O-line decimated by injuries. And even though he was injured his last year (which didn't seem to disqualify Bradford), he still manger to outduel Tebow. And manage to finish career atop Michigan's passing list, which impresses me more than Mississippi or NC State, and certainly more than pass crazy systems like the ones Texas Tech or Hawaii ran. Don't get me wrong...there's still about half on there I'd rank above him too. But any list that has the numbers Colt Brennan ran up against nobody (where's Timmy Chang lol), I can't take too seriously.
