As Vlad said - The Bears fired Nagy. Day comin?

I haven't given much credence to any of the Harbaugh rumors to the NFL, since we hear them every year and (except last, which ironically i would've been happy to have him leave), but Miami just fired Brian Flores ...... Miami is owned by UM grad and multi billionaire Stephen Ross .... who tried to lure Harbaugh in the past, who would give harbaugh all that he wants (complete personnel control, ownership that will let him do what he wants). This is the one that has me worried .....
January 10th, 2022 at 9:42 AM ^
Definitely makes it more interesting since this effectively ends the Watson to Miami talks. Flores is a good coach, so this one just got really interesting.
January 10th, 2022 at 9:46 AM ^
Why would this end the Watson to Miami talks? A new coach wouldn't have ties to Tua, and Watson (when he plays) is clearly a better QB.
January 10th, 2022 at 9:57 AM ^
From what I've seen he wanted Miami because of Flores
January 10th, 2022 at 9:42 AM ^
I guess the question would be, does Ross care about UM Football or the Dolphins more? If he nabs Harbaugh the least he can do is give the new recruiting/NIL department $1billion in restitution
January 10th, 2022 at 9:46 AM ^
Can we trade Harbaugh for $500m NIL fund?
Would be easy to find a new coach with that lol
January 10th, 2022 at 11:03 AM ^
Ross just now said he's not targeting Harbaugh and doesn't want to take him from Michigan. Very good news for our odds of keeping Harbaugh if that's true.
January 10th, 2022 at 11:10 AM ^
The NFL team most likely to get Harbaugh has and continues to be the Raiders. Its the only one with serious smoke and the rumors have been around for months
January 10th, 2022 at 1:00 PM ^
Years.

January 10th, 2022 at 10:23 AM ^
ESPN is already reporting that the Dolphins are not targeting JH for the position. True? I don't know, but that's what they're saying.
January 10th, 2022 at 9:41 AM ^
This is a stupidest firing since the lions fired Caldwell. That being said rumors are he wasn’t like in the locker room. I can’t see The vets wanted Jim, Flores was a great coach and if they ran him out they would run Jim out
January 10th, 2022 at 9:46 AM ^
Jim Caldwell had some of the most talented lions teams ever. Never won a playoff game. Never beat any good teams. Lost to an awful Bengals team with the playoffs on the line in his last season. He was not a good coach. This hindsight view of him is a joke.
They then went on to go full lions and make two awful hires in Quinn and Patricia.
January 10th, 2022 at 9:54 AM ^
Even if the Lions had won at Cincy in that game at the end of the season they miss the playoffs. Atlanta won H2H in the 10 second run off game and Atlanta finished with 10 wins and claimed the 6th seed in the playoff.
January 10th, 2022 at 10:00 AM ^
They still lost to a awful team with whatever chance they had. They played a horrendous football game too.
January 10th, 2022 at 9:57 AM ^
Let’s say this. If Jim Caldwell was a failure. Then there will never be a successful coach to ever lead a team there. To say he was a bad coach and then have the coach they have now and the previous coach, Detroit will NEVER win as many games that Caldwell did. Please tell me how a coach that was the only one to lead the Lions to the playoffs sucked because he had talent. So the next coach didn’t because they had talent? Caldwell didn’t just start coaching. Are you one of the persons who wanted him fired? Anyways, I knew firing Caldwell would basically end all momentum that the Lions ever had. To say he had talented teams is the only reason he got them to the playoffs is like saying Tampa Bay only made the playoffs because of Brady.
January 10th, 2022 at 10:02 AM ^
This is so wrong. Jim Caldwell never beat anyone good. Name me an impressive win he had. He had Matthew Stafford in his prime had middling offenses. Caldwell sucked.
January 10th, 2022 at 10:53 AM ^
Matthew Stanford in his prime? He made Megatron the best receiver in Lions and almost NFL history, retire early! Name one game Stafford led the Lions to a victory that anyone predicted we’d lose. You can’t blame the coach and skip the Leader on the field.
January 10th, 2022 at 11:25 AM ^
Almost every stafford win was a comeback win in the Caldwell era. He is the reason they were even close to being good. Not Caldwell.
January 10th, 2022 at 11:47 AM ^
There is no other word for your understanding. So a QB won the games by himself and the coach had nothing to do with the team at all. The amazing Cosmic awareness of Duffy Moon!
January 10th, 2022 at 9:58 AM ^
This is correct, he was essentially Marvin Lewis
January 10th, 2022 at 10:04 AM ^
The Lions getting to the playoffs and firing their coach is like if MSU eventually fired a coach who won 8-10 games a year but not B1G titles. Stafford isn’t an Aaron Rodgers level talent where you’re forced to make a coaching change despite winning seasons. I think a lot of Lions fans overrated Stafford, who was a very good QB, but not a top 5 in the league QB. Even with all the talent he has around him in LA, he cannot stop being a turnover machine in the biggest moments against good teams.
January 10th, 2022 at 10:14 AM ^
11-5
9-7
7-9
9-7
also had a top 10 defense for the first time in 30 years in Detroit under Caldwell. 3 winning records in Detroit out of 4 speaks volume in Detroit.
January 10th, 2022 at 11:04 AM ^
Why would MSU be fine with 8-10 win seasons and no Big Ten titles when they just won 11 games and have 3 big Ten titles since 2010?
January 10th, 2022 at 10:05 AM ^
Caldwell was a good coach his record in Detroit speaks for itself…and the Lions were hosed out of the playoff game in Dallas. His other 2 playoff losses were to Drew Brees/Saints on the road and Russell Wilson/Seahawks on the road. Can’t blame him for those losses.
January 10th, 2022 at 10:11 AM ^
Stafford and Megatron were really the only thing bringing excitement, though. Even the Caldwell teams that made the playoffs were less exciting than a three-win team this season.
January 10th, 2022 at 10:14 AM ^
How has Caldwell done as a head coach since being fired by Detroit?
January 10th, 2022 at 10:22 AM ^
He hasn’t been given another chance, everyone knows the nfl Margin of error is short for black head coaches. Caldwell did a fine job with Tua in Miami. He made Tua look halfway decent. He’s actually in the hunt for the bears and jags job
January 10th, 2022 at 11:37 AM ^
Any proof to that claim.
January 10th, 2022 at 12:40 PM ^
No one can prove it because owners nor gms would never admit to it. There’s a reason why the Rooney rule was put into place even thought it’s a joke. Joe judge getting a job before Eric Bieniemy. With Flores being fired that leaves 2 black head coaches in the nfl. Mike Tomlin who has been as good as anyone not named bill belichick even gets firing rumors every single season.
January 10th, 2022 at 10:50 AM ^
Better question. How has his opportunities been compared to Matt Patricia, and or Dan Campbell? Both of the latter are and never will be qualified to coach Grand Valley State!!! So don’t give me this retro crap!
January 10th, 2022 at 12:44 PM ^
What? Campbell hasn’t been fired, he still has a job. Patricia just got let go in 2021. Jim Caldwell lEd ThE LiOnS tO 11-5, 9-7,7-9, and 9-7 aNd HaSnT BeEn HiReD ElSeWheRe

Jeff Darlington @JeffDarlington · 1m
While I realize many are assuming Flores’ departure is tied to Harbaugh’s potential availability, I can assure you that is not the case. The Dolphins are not targeting Jim Harbaugh, per sources. The decision to fire Flores is entirely independent.
January 10th, 2022 at 9:43 AM ^
My theory quickly (hopefully) debunked!!!!
January 10th, 2022 at 9:43 AM ^
January 10th, 2022 at 10:12 AM ^
Well...this intentional Dolphins leak dissolves any doubt. Dolphins definitely going after Harbaugh.
January 10th, 2022 at 9:51 AM ^
If you're a Dolphins fan, you have to be pissed:
1. For firing a coach who really seemed to be doing a good job the last few years
2. For not going after Harbaugh when you have the Ross connection
January 10th, 2022 at 9:42 AM ^
Wow, I thought Flores did well this year. He wasn't working with a lot of talent on offense, and they still managed a winning record.
January 10th, 2022 at 10:01 AM ^
Maybe Flores is an absolute asshole but anyone who can put together a respectable team with bum ass Tua as the QB is going to get a lot of interviews with other teams.
January 10th, 2022 at 9:42 AM ^
I can't picture Harbaugh in Miami - it's way too hot.
January 10th, 2022 at 9:42 AM ^
FYI...Jeff Darlington who is an NFL insider on ESPN is saying his sources are telling him that Harbaugh is not a candidate for the Dolphins.
Going to be a real interesting next few days...
January 10th, 2022 at 9:43 AM ^
If Harbaugh goes to Miami we should hire Flores. Won 8 of his last 9 games I believe.
January 10th, 2022 at 9:46 AM ^
Does Harbaugh like fish?
I thought he was a steak man…
January 10th, 2022 at 9:54 AM ^
Flores, will definitely be a HC in the NFL next year. But man, that would be a homerun hire for Michigan in my book. That guy is a good coach.
January 10th, 2022 at 10:09 AM ^
IDK, Flores had a bad relationship with players. Players felt mistreated and did not like him. That won't work in college ball. --Urban Meyer.
January 10th, 2022 at 9:48 AM ^
Warde is basically letting Jim do whatever he wants. They should have had an agreement by today. It’s only the fate of an entire football program that’s at stake. No big deal.
January 10th, 2022 at 10:01 AM ^
You don’t know nothing. You sound like a child. Warde,”please control Jimmy, he’s not doing what we want him to do!” What the hell? You think you have any power to make anyone bow down to your every demand? FOH
January 10th, 2022 at 10:51 AM ^
No. If you want him to be the coach get it done, pay up. If Jim is stalling he’s leaving.
