Does anyone know about parking and tailgating at Minnesota?

Submitted by stjoemfan on October 3rd, 2023 at 6:30 PM

My buddy and I are heading over there and have no idea where to park. There are parking maps but not much said about whether they are reserved or not.

I assume the Maroon, Gold and Gopher lots are all reserved.

Has anyone been there before?

Never been. But since this is MGoBlog in which any topic can spin off anywhere...

Minnesota brought their marching band to M once when I was in the band. They were by far the nicest group of people I met in that context. Both bands hung out together at Revelli Hall for quite a while after the game. They each brought T-shirts to give to us. I got one from a very attractive female, which I had for years until I made the mistake of mentioning within earshot of my MGoWife that I received it thereby. It has since mysteriously disappeared.

Probably best to go to the fair lot and ride the shuttle. Assuming they’re still doing that again. We did that last time we played here and it was fine. This year we’ve got lot 37 passes.

Nobody knows. There's man lots of investigation, but it remains a mystery to this day.  Not much has been said and many assumptions have been made about the maroon and gold and golphers. Few have ever returned to tell the tale.

I’ve parked in Dinkytown where there are ample lots, and I’ll probably do that again this year. Tailgating scene is very underwhelming around the stadium; I’ll grab food in Dinkytown before the game.

I can't comment about the parking.  Minneapolis is a fun city.  Dress warm - there could be snowflakes later in the evening this Saturday.

Ok - snowflakes is an exaggeration - but, it won't be too far from frost in the morning.

Flying in Friday at 10:30. Buddy from CA (whose daughter attends Minn.) flying in at 2:30.  Staying at Hilton Garden Inn on Campus, anybody else going to be there?  Tailgating with an old friend from Kazoo who is a fellow M grad.  Last time I was there was the RichRod game. And we won. Yea Steve Threet.   Bringing some good mojo in yet again!

Flying in from LA, meeting a friend flying in from Denver. Quick 24 hour trip. Staying at the MSP Intercontinental. Will pre-game at the Stub and Herbs tent. Excited to check another B1G stadium off the books.

Fun fact! Because the Gophers were off the 1999-00 schedule, and we had The Grapes of Wrath rehearsals during the 2001 game, this will actually be the first LBJ I've seen in person.

You may go on with your day.

What you do is start drinking on a Thursday night at old Founders on the river in Grand Rapids for a Friday night game, eh, start the drive to Minneapolis when the bars close, crash out for an hour near the Illinois Wisconsin border, claim a couch at an ex-girlfriend’s apartment walking distance from the stadium, fire up the tailgate when she gets off work, watch an historic comeback capped by a John Navarre run on a WR throwback, drink at MSP bars and alumni house parties until the sun comes up Saturday, then find a park to play pickup basketball Saturday morning
