DJ Wilson's Stock Is Potentially On The Rise

Submitted by EastCoast Esq. on

According to Ric Bucher, DJ Wilson may be taken in the teens. That would certainly validate his decision to leave early. We'll see tonight if this is a smokescreen or if Mr. Tiny Shorts is truly in demand.

Outside of the top 5 craziness, word is the player who could wreak mock-draft havoc is Michigan's DJ Wilson, jumping from 20s to teens.

four who can stretch the defense and give a big man some room to operate.  That actually sounds a lot like what the Pistons could use.  Don't get me wrong, they are completely screwed no matter who they draft but that would not be a particularly bad pick for them if it looks like he is ready to play some minutes.

This makes me happy and sad all at the same time. I am so glad he will be drafted higher than expected, but I'm sad that we only got to take advantage of his talent for about a half of a basketball season

Same kind of thing happens in the NFL draft. Prospects haven't played a game in months yet somehow one or two always seem to suddenly shoot up the board right before the draft. Just weird.

A lot of this "late movement" is fog-of-war stuff as teams evaluate their boards and start zeroing in on guys they like. Like an ebay auction for a reasonably popular item, a lot of the interest appears late, though it was kind of already there. I would speculate that news trickles out through sources to the media as some teams start deciding that if that one guy isn't there at, say, 20, DJ is the guy they're taking.

Who knows, though. We'll find out tonight, I guess.

That would definitely prove skeptics wrong. I count myself as a tweener--I literally said that his decision will be validated if he's drafted in the first round. Sounds like he heard good things.

Not hard to see the reasoning, though--same reasoning so many here were excited about the idea of him being here next year. Athletic, long, capable of scoring inside or out, huge ceiling. There's a lot there for the NBA to like.

No one doubts his skill set, but physically he's not ready for the league in my opinion. Maybe I'm wrong, but best of luck to the guy
