Did UM pick up another commit this week?
I was reading around on Varsity Blue this morning and came across this quote from an article written yesterday:
The Wolverines are holding steady with several prospects, and a commitment this weekend at the Big House BBQ (about which I’ll have more info tomorrow morning) would go a long way to easing the fears of Michigan fans.
It can't be Paskorz, because they already have the announcement and article that was posted on Wednesday. So, anyone got wind of who the prospect is?I think it's just a speculative statement, saying if we got a commitment at the BBQ it would allay some of our current recruiting fears. I would say there are a few guys who could drop, but actually the one I am most confident about won't be able to attend - Cullen Christian.
We'll see, though.
The freep article about the BBQ says that Christian will be there. It is first link under mgo.licio.us. Have his plans changed or is the freep just wrong?
"Among the other recruits with Michigan offers who have stated their plans to attend the BBQ include Whitehouse, Ohio offensive tackle Andrew Donnal (6-7, 275), Pittsburgh cornerback Cullen Christian (6-0, 180), Cincinnati defensive lineman Jibreel Black (6-2, 260) and Ramsey, N.J., running back Tony Jones (5-8, 165)."
Cullen Christian (along with Ifill and Carswell) is no longer coming to the BBQ. They'll visit sometime in the next month, probably.

Stop with your Desmond Howard impression already!
I absolutely love Desmond Howard, but he does tend to stutter. Sometimes it is painful watching college gameday when he trips over his words. If he would just slow down and relax, he would become a much better speaker.
when people write like that. Amazing that you never read anything it is all memorization and recognition.
Posted in the wrong place.

This whole mixed up letter thing is crazy. I didn't realize it until i clicked the link i just read through the comments like i always do.
The other thing, obviously, is that the number and kind of letters in the word have to be correct. They can be out of order (aside from the first and last ones) and people can still make sense of it, but if just one letter is dropped or one incorrect letter added, it usually becomes incomprehensible in this scrambled format. (OTOH, a word that is correctly spelled except for one letter is usually still easily recognizable, so spelling is not entirely irrelevant.)
and a commitment this weekend at the Big House BBQ (about which I’ll have more info tomorrow morning)
I think that should be taken to read he has info about the BBQ, not a commitment.
Yeah, looks like 4 hrs of sleep isn't good for your brain after all. Anyway, nice little snippet from the BBQ article on Varsity Blue:
The Wolverines also may be receiving a verbal commitment or two over the weekend. Cullen Christian, Marcus Rush, and Ken Wilkins have maintained Michigan as their favorites for some time. Some are surprised that none have dropped for Michigan yet, and Ken Wilkins told mgoblog’s Tom Van Haaren that he might commit to the Wolverines at the first opportunity.
that is all.
Word on the street is that Ken Wilkins is coming after all. If we get a commit at the BBQ I bet it will be him.
Yeah, I saw how GBW was back and forth about him being at the BBQ. Anyway, I think he'd be a good pickup for UM.
I agree re: he being a good pickup for UM. I wonder if Paskorz commit has anything to do with Wilkins now being at the BBQ. Perhaps he wants to commit sooner than later now to make sure M has a spot for him.
This could be over analysis on my part, but I would assume we would only take one more OLB/DE spot and then save one for Gholston. At the same time, we would probably take Gholston regardless of who has committed before him.
Saving a spot for Gholston doesn't make sense.
I'm not sure what your reasoning is, but IMO Gholston is one of those recruits that you take no matter how many commits you have at that position. You make room for a guy like him.
What I meant was exactly what you said. Even if Michigan "reaches their quota" of OLB/DEs in the form of Wilkins and/or Rush, they would take Gholston somehow.
It's like "saving a spot" in my car for a Playboy Playmate. I don't care how many Playmates are in my car, I'll make room for another.
Nice analogy. I love it.
I figured that's what you meant. In fact, to make your analogy better, it would be more like if there are a bunch of pretty hot girls in your car, you'll always make room for a Playmate. Gholston being the Playmate, Wilkins and Rush being the pretty hot girls.
I wonder if RR would take commits from both Wilkins and Rush at the BBQ. Both have more or less named U-M and UVA as the top two, and while no-lose situations are always nice, I sure wouldn't mind it either if RR put a cap on deathbacker types he plans on taking so as not to gank up all of Groh's OLB targets.
I think he would take both.
