Devlin Leaving Penn State

Submitted by jokenjin on
If most of you haven't heard the news, Penn State back up quarterback Pat Devlin is transferring from the team. I think it mainly has to do with the fact that Daryl Clark got awarded another year of eligibility and Devlin would have to burn another year of his own eligibility to ride the bench. This means that PSU will now be looking for a quarterback for it's current recruiting class. Judging by the effectiveness of the Spread HD, they're going to look for a mobile quarterback (yes, the main reason that the Spread HD is working so well is probably more to do with Clark than the system). There is one particular prospect that could end up at PSU - Kevin Newsome. Seriously - how could he not end up there? I think the only way he doesn't end up there is if Tajh Boyd commits there first. How funny/irritating is that going to be? Two big conference rivals playing with top recruits that you wanted to play for Michigan? I am all for the "if you don't want to be here, then good luck wherever you go" but it's somewhat interesting to see them there. If you add Weinke who is now at Iowa, it could be three former recruits for the Wolverines (two who were committed at one point) quarterbacking strong Big 10 teams.

I heard Newsome is very close to going to Virginia Tech, he may have even made a silent verbal already. Boyd listed a top 4 after is offer was pulled that didn't include PSU, but this might shake things up. PSU still has a long way to go if they want to get him though.

a big name and maybe even if they do, they're going to be in a similar spot to what we are in with the QB situation. without Devlin their backup QB is the TBD freshman followed by a 2-star walk-on.

To be honest Penn State is the one team I am not worried about getting guys like Newsome and all them. As long as Joe Pa is there they cannot beat us no matter if they have Courteny Brown, LaVar Arrington, Larry Johnson, Derrick Williams.. and so on and so on.

Yes. I agree. There is no way in hell that Penn State will ever beat Michigan. Nope. No way. It doesn't matter who's playing for them. They will never ever ever ever beat Michigan. Michigan's never lost to them and never will. The sun will envelop the earth before PSU ever scores a victory over UM.
