Details on the Nike launch on 8/1, Jersey unveil on 8/2

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Just in case this got a little lost in the shuffle the other day in the big thread that was showcasing the sneak peaks, I think it's important that the details surrounding launch WEEK be posted.

The start time and other thing surrounding the launch party weren't announced prior to yesterday.

It's not just one day actually.

7/31-8/1 Nike/Jordan Welcome Rally- 10pm-2am

  • Special Guest Apperances (Woodson? Woodley? MJ?!?!)
  • Live DJ, Prizes, Giveaways
  • Michigan Marching Band, Cheer and Dance teams
  • Food & drink from State St. restaurants

State St. will be blocked off for the duration of the event.

8/2 Michigan Football x Jordan: Forged for Greatness- 10am

A formal, invite-only media event in Detroit where the Michigan uniforms--the first-ever Jordan football uniforms--will be unveiled for the first time.

The Michigan Air Jordan Trainer 1s will also be unveiled. Michigan is getting their OWN line of Air Jordan shoes.

More details will be announced. I'm guessing it will be streamed.

8/6 Beginning at 9am on this day, the jerseys and AJ Trainer 1 will be for sale online and at MDen.

Almost there. 5 days.

Annoyingly enough, my new license that I got today on my day off cost more than getting a new battery for my Michigan Nike watch that's been in storage for years.

Were you able to get a normal license when you still have 5 days until your birthday? Or are you now stuck with a vertical license for the next few years?

I am not cleaning that shit up, man. There's a thing of Clorox wipes in the closet to the left. Whatever happened to his clothes is his own business and the only thing I can recommend is walking briskly through the hall on the way to the changing room. As a rule, we try not to blow our loads around here....on the public-facing side of the forum anyway.

I can't imagine the excitement that's been building up for you, WD, of the unveiling of Nike/Jordan apparel. This may be the biggest day of your life.

I don't get the apparel obsessuon, but different strokes for different folks. still...a WEEK of celebration for this? I miss just going to Moe's or the mall and being like "hey, new shirts". this "event" is just over the top by a LOT.

The gear is available online at midnight EST on 8/1.

However, it's important for those who may be on the fence about going that it's not out of the realm of possibility that some of the stuff is NOT on MDen immediately.

MDen doesn't show their full hand online. I stalk the New Arrivals page 365 and I sometimes go into the store when in town and find new things not listed. Even official gear.

Why the fuck should it matter?

And why the hell should it be your business?

Making fun of homosexuality is typically something that stops being cool with puberty.  Grow the fuck up.

Orlando (and having gay friends) has made me a bit sensitive about this topic.

Great its a joke.

Ask your daughter how awesome some of her friends felt growing up and coming out.  You hear some great stories about self abusive behavior, parents throwing them out, etc.  Not all people are as lucky as her to have supportive parents/family.

I get people on this blog like piling on WD and his fandom/obsession with Michigan gear, but shit has to stop.  Fucking with people about race is relatively taboo nowadays.  Sexuality should be as well.

Condoning little slips as "lighten up Francis" is just excusing bullshit, especially when you are giving shit to relative strangers on the internet, rather than friends or family at home/at the bar, etc.

Agreed, completely. The hang ups Americans have about anything other than straight hetero, traditional "marriage" and relationships is demented and deeply alienating/abusive for those who are not, and tasteless jokes like this constitute bullying.

There are strong correlations between suicide and bullying of all types, but especially of our LGBT brothers, sisters, and those who don't identify.

Sexuality is fluid and evolves throughout stages of life depending on many biological and environmental factors. When one "jokes" like this, the implied message is that WD is a freak/bad person, and that its ok to mock him as LGBT because, "ha, ha, we all know LGBT is bad, we're safe insulting WD and those who are LGBT."

What's bad is bullying and discrimination of all types. (Except against Buckeyes, but I didn't really have to articulate the obvious.) Thanks for calling it out.
