Defeated without dignity
Yesterday was what the 2016 game should’ve been. As I was watching yesterday it felt eerily similar for quite a while. MSU scores early, and we dominate after that. Both games were 27-10 at one point. Yesterday we finished. Admit it, even though we dominated 2016 and coasted through the 4th quarter, it didn’t feel great to see them make it closer than it should’ve been. Even in garbage time. Yesterday we had the look that there would be no “garbage time” this year and we were going to play for 60 minutes this time.
Also, I’m appreciative that #96 Panisuik took that cheap shot on Shea. He will be back next year and our guys won’t forget that. When their is a talent difference like there likely will be next year again, the more talented team needs things to keep them motivated.

MSU has an ounce of talent on this team. Next year, they won't even have that. It's going to be a bloodbath
November 17th, 2019 at 10:14 AM ^
I hope they keep Dantonio. A new coach could revive their recruiting approach. Until then, MSU is becoming Maryland and trending towards Rutgers. Even Illinois has passed them by and Indiana is far superior.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:21 AM ^
Their recruiting is so bad for the foreseeable future it wouldn't even be until, what, 2022 that they actually might bring some decent recruits that they still have to develop. It's going to be a long road to get our of the hole that Dantonio put them in.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:28 AM ^
Yeah, Harbaugh May drop 60 or 70 on the Spartans next season, because they’ll be helpless to stop Michigan.
November 17th, 2019 at 12:11 PM ^
MSU: The glass is half empty and draining fast.
November 17th, 2019 at 12:17 PM ^
It's mostly backwash at this point
November 17th, 2019 at 6:20 PM ^
The only decent thing they'll have next year is that running back. The OL will still be trash, that great roided D-line will be gone, and their starting QB will be Rocky or Theo who both make Lewerke look good. They're trending hard toward a 2-4 win season and I'm going to love it
November 17th, 2019 at 10:12 AM ^
The difference is we finally have an explosive offense for the first time in Harbaugh's tenure and he's willing to use it. Prior to the ND game, he has been in play not to lose mode for 4.5 years. Hopefully he finally woke up and will stop giving away a couple games per year to inferior teams. If they would have started faster against PSU, we would still be in the division race. Unfortunately we are relegated to a spoiler role.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:22 AM ^
Hate to break it to you but we are technically not in the spoiler role. By my math, PSU is the only one that can spoil OSU’s path to the B10CG
November 17th, 2019 at 10:35 AM ^
Hate to break it to you, but if Ohio state beats penn state next week they will be undefeated and I the top 4 when they come to Ann Arbor. That pits Michigan in a spoiler role.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:56 AM ^
If they are a 1-loss big ten champ they could still make the CFP.
November 17th, 2019 at 11:37 AM ^
They could, but if they are undefeated they are a slam-dunk choice for the CFP. If M beats them, then suddenly it's a discussion between OSU and Bama, and Bama could have the stronger claim since they were beaten by #1. M could definitely play the spoiler here. Just imagine the rage of OSU fans if left out of the CFP because M beat them. That could be fun, I can dream, can't I?
November 17th, 2019 at 12:21 PM ^
You can dream, but I still don't see OSU/Bama as a debate, since Bama has a weaker schedule, no conference championship, and no Tua. I guess theoretically Oregon or Oklahoma could take OSU's place but I still don't see it.
November 17th, 2019 at 12:31 PM ^
Alabama still has to play at Auburn without Tua. And GA has to play LSU in the SEC championship game. I think it comes down to LSU, Clemson, and 2 of the 3 remaining 1-loss conf champs (Oklahoma, OSU and Oregon).
November 17th, 2019 at 10:32 AM ^
At least we can spoil Ohio State NC hopes if we win ...I think ?
November 17th, 2019 at 10:34 AM ^
I'd contend that it's because of a sprinkling in of Jim's offense mid season that this new offense progressed...especially with the blocking schemes.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:39 AM ^
I would agree with that. Remember all those people who were pissed off with Harbaugh interfering with his own team's offense early in the year? I wish he would have been more involved from the beginning. A collaborative offense could have looked much better. I sure hope this offense stays for years to come as they are rounding into a nice form
November 18th, 2019 at 3:34 AM ^
I remember those morons. They might be the same set of people who say bowl games don't matter.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:46 AM ^
I think we had a pretty explosive offense in 2016.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:51 AM ^
Harbaugh and Fisch made a great tandem, indeed.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:22 AM ^
The talent disparity that is this year, could be even greater, significantly next year......
November 17th, 2019 at 10:50 AM ^
its actually going to be really bad next year. they could be Rutger bad next year
November 17th, 2019 at 10:24 AM ^
Garbage time wasn’t garbage time because Mork never pulled his starters, so Harbaugh kept our starters in. It was a fight to the finish. Did they get back on the bus to EL with their helmets on?
November 17th, 2019 at 12:14 PM ^
LOL! Yea, they never took a shower, either. The busses were rolling pretty quickly as in lickety split.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:24 AM ^
I'm keeping this game on my DVR until next year. I'll probably watch it at least once per month.
Still feeling great today.
November 17th, 2019 at 12:36 PM ^
Watched it again earlier. I have 2 games on DVR, this one and the Jordan Poole buzzer beater over Houston.
November 17th, 2019 at 4:48 PM ^
I still have Trey Burke vs. Kansas in the NCAA tourney taking up space on my DVR.
November 17th, 2019 at 6:05 PM ^
I have the NC win vs. Seton Hall on VHS that I recorded directly from the game broadcast in April of 1989 . . in all its low-def, inconsistent over-the-air-antenna glory.
November 17th, 2019 at 7:05 PM ^
Me too. The best part looking back now is the commercials. "The new 1989 Ford F150!"
November 17th, 2019 at 8:49 PM ^
That's one of the last "tapes" I have....
November 17th, 2019 at 10:25 AM ^
We have dominated a crappy MSU team the last two years. Defeating a rival is always an achievement and deserves to be celebrated. That being said, things are back to where they should be, they are little brother in all aspects of the phrase. Personally, I’m kind of over the taunting and the trash talk. Let’s not give them the time of day....they don’t deserve it.
November 17th, 2019 at 12:23 PM ^
I'm not over it. I lived in sparty country during the RR - Hoke years and endured season after season of trash talk. Paybacks will be frequent and brutal.
November 17th, 2019 at 5:57 PM ^
This.
I imagine I won't see as many Sparty hats on Mackinac Island this summer, thankfully.
November 17th, 2019 at 2:49 PM ^
Yes, Mike Hart started with the "little brother" comment. But Dantonio elevated the trash talk. I once rooted for MSU when they were not playing Michigan or if it didn't effect Michigan negatively. Not anymore, I hope we beat them soundly every game. Like the cheap shot on Shea yesterday, that is just plain garbage regardless what team does it. Sure does seam that it happens a lot by MSU and that is a reflection of the coach.
November 17th, 2019 at 3:56 PM ^
Actually Mork started the trash talking. He said there should be a moment of silence after App State game. Reap what you sow Mork.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:28 AM ^
96 also tried to injure Ruiz last year as well. Ruiz was stuck in a pile and he was pushing him over. Could have blown out a knee
November 17th, 2019 at 10:33 AM ^
He was also the guy who kept twisting Higdon's ankles while on the ground
November 17th, 2019 at 10:36 AM ^
Yup im surprised this doesn’t get brought up as much ...one of the dirtiest things I’ve seen on a football field next to the Dernard facemask twist from 2011
November 17th, 2019 at 10:54 AM ^
Have you seen pics of the brothers? Explains a lot about their mental makeup when you factor inbreeding into the equation
November 17th, 2019 at 12:59 PM ^
I'm pretty sure their family were Nazi sympathizers and SS men from Ukraine.
November 17th, 2019 at 6:29 PM ^
Roid rage
November 17th, 2019 at 10:32 AM ^
I don't feel bad for whichever QB they have next year. If it's Blondie or the other guy, theyre gonna get the Gardner treatment.
November 17th, 2019 at 11:52 AM ^
Saw a guy in the stadium yesterday wearing a Lombardi jersey. Not a cheap one either it was stitched numbers and name. Couldn’t help but laugh.
Also, on the way out an msu guy was walking around yelling about basketball season.
November 17th, 2019 at 12:47 PM ^
It was probably a family member since that's the only way to get the name on the back unless he got it from China. I highly doubt anyone is that pumped about a back up QB that has only played sparingly to go through that trouble.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:37 AM ^
I feel like one thing that can’t be discounted and has helped contribute to MSUs decline in recruiting is UC and UK hiring Fickell and Stoops. Those two schools are now snatching up the above average Ohio kids that used to fall in Dantonio’s lap without him having to put forth any effort. What is their 2020 class, like 10th in the B1G? As long as Mork sticks around that program is toast for the foreseeable future haha
November 17th, 2019 at 10:50 AM ^
All the ugly publicity from Nassar and the football/basketball programs' not-so-great handling of sexual assault cases may not be helping their cause either. MSU's overall admissions standards have had to be lowered in the wake of the scandal(s) to keep their enrollment levels steady.
November 17th, 2019 at 11:04 AM ^
I think it's definitely that, combined with the formation of the B1G East, combined with many of MSU's best players being off the team for…reasons.
Once Harbaugh got here and Franklin started having success at Penn State, MSU couldn't have looked very attractive to recruits. The division has three powerhouses, one of which is a perennial national championship contender, and MSU doesn't have the non-athletic attractions to bring in recruits. If you're going to play in the B1G East, it's better to go to Indiana where the campus and school are much nicer.
November 17th, 2019 at 11:46 AM ^
What bothers me is that those good Ohio players that don't go to OSU used to go--and should always go--to Michigan, not MSU, UK, UC, or anywhere else.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:40 AM ^
The game will be in EL and Shea will be gone, so I hope they focus on winning rather than Pansysuck payback.
November 17th, 2019 at 12:18 PM ^
All of the Michigan returnees next year won't forget the dirty play by Sparty. There will be hell to pay next year in EL. We'll take a page out of Dantonio, it's never over.
