Dark horse predictions...

Pick a dark horse for the B1G and for another conference.

My two picks

B1G-Nebraska. I think they’ll do 9-3 in season.

Other- Syracuse. For some reason they’re not being talked about on the big scene and I think they’ll surprise some people.

Big Ten - Wisconsin will come out and dominate the west again. Last year was a blip. There were major locker room issues there last year and those players are all gone.

Nation - LSU wins the SEC and makes playoff

I agree with XM. Sparty makes me a little nervous, especially after reading Seth's preview in HTTV. Their defense looks like it could legitimately be in the top 5 (*could be*) and we can all laugh at Lewerke but he's a veteran now and Mork has done really well when he has a veteran QB.

A weak schedule.

That being said, I agree 100%. Everyone seems to have bought into Frost the savior. And I don't think he's a bad coach per se, but he went 13-0 at the best non Power 5 program in the country and everyone treats it like he just won the national championship at Rutgers.

This isn't Osborne's Nebraska. Shit has changed dramatically over the past 20-25 years. And he isn't Kirby Smart who has come in and dominated in recruiting.

The Big Ten is a tough place to find a dark horse candidate. The West is wide open. Illinois is a very dark horse, maybe Minny qualifies. None of the other five teams winning would be a surprise. I don't see a dark horse team emerging in the East, so I guess I'll just say Nebraska.

I'll go with Oregon to rebound and at least challenge in the PAC-12.

Don't see one in the B1G.  Same teams will be fighting for the CCG.

UM, OSU, PSU  -  Iowa, Wisky, NW  (that is my prediction for where teams finish).

NEB makes a bowl game at 6-6 or 7-5?

How bout UVA to make ACC CCG to get pummeled by Clemson.

Maybe if Nebraska didn't have OSU as a crossover.  But, they're gonna be in a dogfight against everyone on their schedule.  The only team they seem like a clear favorite against is Illinois.  NW, Wiscy, Iowa, Minny, Purdue, Ind, & Mary all seem like tough games for them.

Big Ten--Michigan State. 9-3 or 10-2 with a win over OSU or Michigan. They went 1-2 in their last 3 games of the year when their defense gave up a grand total of 26 points (and NU and Oregon offenses weren't bad at the end of the year). If they can just be functional (not even good) on offense they are going to be tough to beat.

Elsewhere--Baylor goes 10-2 and makes Big XII title game. I think Rhule is the most underrated coach in America. He understands program building, believes in defense (stands out as a contrarian in the Big XII) and has an experienced QB returning. It's a wide open league which helps as well.

I don’t have any as I believe it will be the same 5 or 6 teams with a chance to make the playoff. And is Nebraska really a dark horse or is the big ten west just so bad that they have a chance to win it

Is it the close game Nebraska gave OSU last year that's got everyone slobbering over them?  If so, by that logic you should also be drooling over Maryland.

They won four of their last six games over the likes of Bethune-Cookman, Illinois and Minnesota.

Yes, their division is a joke but so is their defense.  Remember when RichRod's defense made a ton of bad teams look like world beaters?   It can be the same here.  When you're going to have to win games by scores of 45-41 or 52-45, you can't expect to win the division.

I think that undefeated season at Central Florida has got a little too many people high on Scott Frost.

And 21 years later, Frost can still kiss my ass.
