I would think it could make a difference in that if the home team wins a big game, the crowd excitement would probably rub off (thinking McGary's trips to football games). I could see recruits getting swept up in the excitement of simply being at a big event. But I doubt there's much of an impact like, "gee, their basketball team really screwed that one up...not sure if I want to play running back here."

Not only do we need him becuase hes a great running back, but we need him to establish that we are a top recruit destination. If we can keep brininging in guys like Peppers, Green ect. it will only help bring in more. Great recruiting breeds great recruiting.

Please tell me that 1 minute after that photo was taken, Urban had the gall to  turn to the kid and force him to change his shirt:

This definitely feels different than a de-commit.  More of a putting folks on notice that he's still shoping around, but hasn't eliminated Michigan.  Or (hopefully) still is looking hard at them but wants to look around.

Actually, if you think about it, it's a far more honorable way to do it than to sneak around and suddenly de-commit & then commit quickly to another school.

"Taking a break" from a relationship is never a GREAT sign, but it's far better than an outright break-up or the person being cheated on.

Good sign.  Fingers crossed.

He is either going to come back to the good guys or go to Kentucky. That is our biggest threat. Everyone laughs at that, but it's true. He spends a lot of time at UK and has friends there. They just had their best class ever and there is a lot of hype down here about the direction of the football team.

Wolfman

Thank God my last few years of coaching fb at the h.s. level in MI found me in a situation, at a rural school with a scary diversity containing 2 ethnic groups, We had one player of Latino heritage, a stud at guard and MIKE, or in my "52" scheme, the inside ss lber, also known as "the wolfman," in honor ot the last wolverine to earn that tag, Don Dufek. The other minoriy was an afro-american who could basically outrun everyone he ran against on defense, provided the crackback was successful, and on the defensive side could catch everyone who he allowed past him in pass covereage.  In other words, one played according to the keys he was supposed to read, the other pure instinct that got him in trouble many times on the defensive side of the ball. I probably could have set his ass on defense but I wanted to keep his head in the game. and isasmuch as he averaged 43 yds per TD carry or literally  scoring every 6 touches, thought it worth the gamble. Thought the trade-off was worthwhile because we had 21 varsity players and we lost that semi-final by a score of 16-14 and we celebrated the victory on a 28 yd fg that was dead center but, alas about one foot too short.  Damn, our opponent, a 7 time state champ went on to win the finals by 35 points. This, too, was a team that had beaten us with a running clock in the 4th quarter when we met in the regular season. They both went on to earn GLIAC shollies, along with the starting qb on that team.                                 ^I talked to the RB prior to his 11th grade year and told him he "would be a stud should he stay with us." A prophecy that proved correct. I also told him he would gain greater exposure if he chose to go with one of the better known teams in the area, i.e., Fruitport, Orchard View and to a lesser degree the Big Reds because they had perhaps 6 boys that could turn the corner and run away from the defense.           ^I bring this up, not as a matter of race, but where a player decided, by circumstances and teammates, of which he had 21 when healthy, would be the best fit for him.  And this is my point. If Damien decides, most likely on the area allowed him by next year's OL, that he will be able to gain the second level quickly and with superior running skill, take it to the house, he'll do great in AA, and as a currenr LOI signee stated, "Hell, if all goes wrong, I'll still have the Michigan degree," then AA is where he should commit. But if the OL does not prove itself next season, then, if he, I would, indeed, contemplate seriously about pledging to a team with a proven ground attack. Campbell would be a great pickup as a wr, not unlike Terrel, Arrington, Edwards and the lot. But if Coach Hoke wishes to keep picking up RBs that fit his style of "Man Ball," the OL must stand up big. His decision to revisit if a good thing. He wants UM, but he wants them to play like Hoke and his fellow recruiers have told him, "By time you get to campus, we'll be the Michigan old." This is actualy a good test as to his ability to get these blue chip OL to play at the level anticipated. If not, I cannot blame tne young man for taking his considerable talents elsewhere. If, on the other hand, they begin to gel and play the way Hoke thinks they will, I think a decision in our favor willd do both parties a world of good, and after all, isn't that what it's supposed to be?
