yeah, but that still impacts the man. There are plenty of QBs who are tough as nails, but after getting beat on over and over, they lose that mental edge. e.g. David Carr. I would expect it works culturally as well. Being a tough player in a soft environment certainly has impact.

What is clear, is that Ryan Day is an idiot clown.

He is a stud, that an osu coaching staff that knew they were in the big 10, not the big 12 would have used well. I am more interested to see what we have in Mullings, Hall, Cabana, Marshall, Kaapana

I assume UM's new RB coach will give him a call but we'll see; I sort of doubt he'd get many more carries with UM than he would with OSU, so my guess is he looks somewhere else with a lighter depth chart.

I would take him only because I like Edwards much more as a space player than a true running back. Mullings and Hayden would be a good 1-2 with Edwards doing Edwards things and the other RBs getting carries in garbage time

Can never have too many RBs, especially when you’re Michigan

This isn't a video game, where you try to get the player with the highest rating. In real life you have players on the team who have earned the respect of the team, players look at those players and that is what leads to culture within a program.  Edwards is by all accounts a leader on the team and losing him would be a MUCH larger subtraction than any player we add.

As I stated previously, Edwards was terrible last year and Michigan has a culture of meritocracy just ask Cade how thinking “earned respect of the team” worked out for him. Or better yet ask RJ Moten why Makari Paige took his job. If Hayden proves to be the better player then it shouldn’t matter if Edwards leaves.

If this were the case, it would have been Mullings running free for long TDs against Washington (and PSU). How many TDs does Dallan have in big games?

With all the successful plays Edwards has put on tape since 2021, I have no concern he'll be a great player next year. Especially since we have Mullings and Hall doing the majority of the between-the-tackles running.

Exactly. If Blake Corum didnt return last season I dont think we even make the playoffs because Edwards was a complete negative for most of the season. Thankfully he is clutch as fuck and shows up in big games though.

Edwards also relies on big holes. Our Oline is going to be worse so he wont have those gaping holes to hit as often this season.

I think the general thinking is: he's put out enough tape since 2021 to show he's elite in certain respects and can play in big games. Yes, he's unlikely to be the down-to-down between the tackles runner. If Corum goes down last year, you'd have seen a lot more Mullings and a bit more Edwards. Edwards is a 15-20 touches a game back, in my mind.

Hallen's best game is 146 yds vs Maryland in 2022. Edwards' top games:

1. OSU 2022 - 216 yds rushing

2. Purdue 2022 - 186 yards rushing (and how many passing?)

3. Iowa 2021 - 170 yds receiving, 8 rushing

4. PSU 2022 - 173 yds rushing

In the last two years, Edwards has 5 TDs against OSU and PSU alone. Hayden's got 0 TDs against any teams not named Indiana, Maryland, and Toledo.

What's your justification for Hayden over Edwards?

It'd be foolish to not take him if he wants to come. Ryan Day is trash at utilizing RBs and I think Hayden is a diamond in the rough. Edwards and Mullings should be good and Im excited for them but our run game is possibly the most important area for next season because QB will be average at the very best. If Edwards runs like he did for most of last year then we're going to struggle moving the ball. You have to plan for these possibilities.

His main issue is pass protection, which is a big one, but he says he understands this and has been working at it.

Im not a gambler but if Hayden goes somewhere and starts I'd bet on him rushing for 1000 yards.

The players aren’t broken, the coaches and culture are. Stroud is going to be the most successful Ohio State NFL QB ever and they wasted him because they couldn’t minimize his weaknesses and play to his strengths. You don’t think JTT or Sawyer would be in the NFL by now if they were at Michigan instead of Osu? If Hayden wants in, he’s a take

I’m guessing he’s leaving for immediate playing time. Between Edwards, Mullings, and our QB, there’s not a lot of carries available. If he wants to sit and learn from a couple of the best and then takeover in ‘25, then yeah, I would welcome him with open arms. Maybe he’ll fill the void Judkins left at Ole Miss.
