Da'Shawn Hand to reschedule Florida visit?

Submitted by sportzfan81 on

Per Tom VH - Hand's coach says that Da'Shawn will be taking his SAT on October 5th and that his trip to Gainesville will have to be moved.

Florida only has one other home game after this weekend before his announcement and that is Vandy on Nov 9th (same day as LSU vs Bama). Assume this is good news?

Even if Florida was allowed to have official visitors for the Georgia game (Cocktail Party in Jax)...I would think the fact that he will not have the opportunity to see a game in "the Swamp" is a good thing?

2 team race? 1 TEAM race?

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot??? Rival? The effort in that game was pathetic at best and best be followed by a complete BLOWOUT of CT. I can't imagine what Mr. Hand was thinking watching that debacle--but maybe--"These guys SUCK so badly that I'm starting on Down 1 Game 1"

He is now visiting Florida Nov. 9th and move his Alabama visit to Oct. 26th when they play Tennessee. Mike Farrell at Rivals give it 75% Michigan, 20% Florida, 5% Alabama.

^ This.

Which is odd that he gave the same odds as he did before the change in visits was announced (but after the Michigan UTL visit), since his comment today is essentially, 'this makes UF a bigger player since he didn't outright cancel his visit'.

FWIW Farrell thinks Bama has relatively no chance because they can only offer him an engineering major, which he doesn't want anymore.

Not sure if it makes Florida a bigger player than before. I guess the only thing that makes them the bigger player is them getting the last visit.

I think this decision just shows that it is a two team race. He is rescheduling the big LSU vs. Alabama game to go to Florida instead.

It was an interesting situation - as I recall, Muschamp's contract at the time in Texas had no buyout and the title of "coach-in-waiting" was clearly not attached to a timeline even despite Brown's contract, which is still two years or so from expiring. At the time Muschamp left, I seem to recall that there was some rumbling about Brown stepping down after 2010, but then he changed his mind and Muschamp was livid, by most most accounts. I don't blame him for leaving.

The more I watch Texas implode, the more I wonder who wants to really coach that team.  We say that UM has lots of pressure and needs a certain type of guy at the top, but UT basically carries the banner for the whole state of Texas (obviously there are pockets of other fans, but still), and Texas is HUGE.  RR struggled with the politics at UM and by all accounts UM boosters aren't in the same ballpark as Texas ones.  At best you win a lot and tread water; at worst you lose and everyone loses their minds.

that made it sound bad for UM's chances? JPTTA! Unless of course he wants to get a couple of paid weekend getaways where grown men and women cater to his every need. Then go ahead and take your time.

Hand: "It was crazy...I got there,...had breakfast."

Sure sounds to me like he just fits in real well at Michigan.  Wonder if he had a chance to try the subs?
