It occurs to me only now, on Day 1, that I haven't seen the "There's a waterpark in Battle Creek...that saved X% on its energy costs" ad accompanying every video.  Maybe it's a sign that mgoblue.com has stepped up in advertising.  Like when the Big Ten Network moved on from the one advertisement they had from Rotel for queso dip.

I will say that Fred Jackson writing about his epxeriences at Michigan as well as his earlier experiences would probably be a rather interesting thing to read. His perspective on all the changes that he has seen in Ann Arbor, which I don't think he's ever really talked about but in snippets, would be unique, I imagine.

I can't say I've been impressed by Jackson's coaching in any video I've ever seen of him. I know he's supposed to be a great recruiter but ... The expectation is for the position. And I'd like to see the RB coach actually get some results.

Hey Fred, please retire and write that book. Let's get another Roy Manning in there.

Jackson has been here since the early nineties. He has produced Michigan's top 2 career rushers at running back plus plenty of other outstanding backs. Since richrod he had to deal with square pegs in round holes(minor and brown), less than ideal backs due to spread style play(Shaw, Smith, Toussaint) and then had to incorporate them back to pro style, injuries(Toussaint, minor, Smith, little white guy in 2008 who transferred and is escaping me ) 3 of Michigan's worst lines ever(2008, 2012, 2013), and having denard be the featured runner for 3 years......that's a lot in the last 7 years for a rb coach used to pro style for 2 decades who finally admitted last year they had real running back depth.....if we get consistent o_line play we will be singing his praises again. There is a reason richrod only kept Jackson and fired all the other assistants.

I know we love to judge him on, and make fun of his "like Hart but fast"comments....but maybe he said those things as encouragement and confidence boosters for players he knew were of lesser skill. The man can coach and knows exactly what he is talking about and has proved it over longevity. Michigan is so close to being great again, we are a handful of o-linemen who have clicked away to being back to our winning ways, and maybe more. Be positive.

I've been waiting to tell you guys the good news. This seems like the right time.

I am Officially predicting Michigan to finish in the top 10 behind a break out year from Derrick Green, surprisingly competent OL play, a balanced offense, and a defense that is amongst the best in the country.

Last year is going to feel like decades ago in a few months.

I am even more convinced the season largely depends on inside zone. Can Green and Smith churn and slash inside because the OL actually opens some gaps and accounts for everyone? Cannot wait. Oh, Fred will retire after this year.
