Could the Harris / basketball rumors have any truth to them?
I know it was discussed a bit last week in this thread
http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/drake-harris-play-bball
But I ran across an article in the Daily with interviews with Charlton and Harris, whom were both highly sought after basketball prospects as well.

I mean, can you imagine this happening? Both of them could be contributers on this team that obviously is dealing with some major roster issues.

he was a stud in basketball. Originally commited to Sparty for basketball, until he decided he wanted to play football full time.

Drake was a stud at Grand Rapids Christian.

Drake was a top 100 player at Christian, but he seemed to lose interest in basketball once it became apparent he was a better football player.
And he's been healthy for what, 4 football games in the last 3 seasons total? He better be healthy before he's playing another sport.

A lot of physical therapists think being a multi sport athlete keeps players healthier, so it could help keep his body healthier in the football off season.

Coach likes multisport high school athletes, stands to reason he wouldn't mind. He loves those who love compitition maybe he would even like it.

Well, from the look of things in the article, right now the chances of eithe Harris or Charlton showing up in a Michigan basketball game seem pretty slim just based on how they are talking. I mean, it would be fun to witness if it indeed happened, but it sounds like they've both been away from basketball for at least a couple years now, so the road to playing time if they did walk on would potentially be a bit lengthy - could be wrong on that, but it is the impression I get.

This^
While it's fun to thinkg about, this team already has plenty of depth. A team that has stars but really struggles when they rest those stars (see Belien teams prior to the 2012 recruiting class) could really benefit from a couple guys like this but this team has depth and lacks the top end talent.

theres nothing in that article that suggests theyll play.. on the contrary, even...

The way everyone talks about how hard it is to learn the Beilien offense, how likely is it that either of these guys joins the team in early January and makes much of a contribution in games?

I have watched the Offense, I think my 12 yr old has it figured out too.

How can an article from September shed any light on current rumors?

I remember in the late 80s or early 0s somebody like Chris Calloway or Greg McMurtry played football and also started in center field for the baseball team. Anyone remember that?
edit: maybe I''m wrong because I can't find anything.

He was a first round pick out of HS. turned down the hometown RedSox to play here. Baseball should be easier to schedule. There's just a minimal overlap with spring prqctice.
