Cost of Attendance Database for FBS Programs
Here is a link to a piece on cost of attendance (COA) at various schools:

This subject has been discussed here before, but this piece has updated information and lays out the reimbursement levels on a conference by conference basis,
Michigan is near the bottom of the B1G and Wisconsin is at the very top.
Here's a little tidbit about Alabama's COA which, not surprisingly, has gone up considerably over the last few years.

I'd think that apart from Northwestern, Ann Arbor has the highest cost of living in the B10

I could see Minneapolis, College Park (D.C. area) and Piscataway (northern NJ) being more expensive. Maybe Madison as well, I don't know.
West Lafayette and State College being up there on cost of attendance seems strange though.

Transportation figures into the COA equation and "transportation" also includes airfare for students traveling to/from the nearest airport.
Madison is THE MOST expensive city --- among the nation's 100 busiest airports --- to fly into on a price per mile basis.

Not a good thing....recruits would find more money attractive, regardless of actual costs, and you can bet the schools with high COA allowances will use this to their best advantage.

I would have expected to be on the higher end of that spectrum.. Hopefully they revisit this at some point

However, there should be checks and balances if we are going to go this route. Let's have some NCAA accountants verify if they are capable.

That's a lot of extra money for some of the small programs. Good luck to them.

1. The numbers presented in the article may be the COA numbers used for financial aid calculations. I remember reading somewhere that those numbers could and would be different than those used for scholarship athlete reimbursements.
2. The article gives the additional costs associated with reaching full COA. It is possible that UM's original reimbursement is higher and therefore are higher on this list when considering the total reimbursement.

It's pretty clear that this is yet another system to be gamed by certain schools. The fact that going to Memphis is apparently twice as expensive as UM is pretty damning.

How the hell is Bowling Green (4K) double UMich (2K?).
Or Tallahassee (6K) triple?

Even EMU is $800 more than UM. Cheaper city, cheaper school, closer to the same airport. Makes no sense.

USC - even though it's in a very shitty neighborhood - should have a COA on par with the schools in the top portion of that conference.
It's like these figures were pulled out of thin air.
