College Hoops Thread

Some topics for discussion:

Transfers, Colin Castleton and Cole Bajema

CC is averaging 23 mpg, 6 ppg, 5 rbg, 1.5 bpg.

CB is averaging 11 mgg, 2ppg

Games today: Villanova vs Texas on now. Texas has had a surprisingly good early season with wins over IU and NC.

Michigan vs UCF at 4pm ET on BTN. Might be our last non conference game. NC State didn't play Saturday because of someone in their traveling party testing positive. UCF hasn't played in a week so they could play some zone today and see how it goes, they do play it some anyway.

WBB beats Wright State 82-59.  The team looked good through much of the game but had 18 turnovers and allowed 26 offensive rebounds so there are still things to work on.  They also struggled in the third quarter in what could have been an epic collapse against a stronger opponent.

Next game is Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. against Butler.  Game is on BTN minus.

B1G season starts December 19 against Illinois

You know, I totally forgot about those two guys.

It looks like CC is not going to fulfill the potential he had. In today's game, unless you are an absolute rim protector and beast down low, you have to develop some mid-range/deep game. Colin just never had it, and it didn't look like it was coming either. He may turn into a decent player at some point; however, in year 3, guys generally are what they are.

Bajema, who knows. Dude is rail thin- could turn into something.

I actually kind of saw the Castleton stats a little differently. Comparing him to Davis. AD is 13 mpg, 4.7 ppg, 3.7 rpg and 0.3 bpg. Seems like CC is more efficient, especially with the blocks. He could've been utilized here for sure. Bajema looks like he's just gonna be a marginal college player at this point.

I suppose.

I just saw more out of him. When his college career is done, he'll be one of those dudes that ends up being just a guy. 90 percent of every program has them. We could spend hours remembering dudes that played for Michigan that were just "there."

He had a lot of potential. At this point, it would definitely be a bit of a miracle if he suddenly blossomed into a great player. He's aight.

Bajema was a lights out shooter in garbage time, but in actual minutes, he looked like a baby deer skating on ice. He had poor defensive instincts and didn't look like he knew where to be on offense. I always had high hopes that he could end up as some Stauskas/LeVert hybrid, but it never happened

Texas has an incredible front court. Jericho Sims, former UM recruit Greg Brown and my favorite of the group, Kai Jones. All three guys are explosive around the rim and Brown and Jones both have some floor stretching potential. If UT gets anything from their guards, they'll have a great year.

Michigan WBB gets the win over Wright St, 82-59.  Four in double figures, led by veteran Nebraska transfer and B1G 6th Woman of the Year Leigha Brown with 24 and Naz Hillmon with 18 and a double-double.  Next up Bradley, Wed at 1pm on BigTenPlus.  Go Blue!

Wright was sub-par down the stretch in the final 7-8 mins IMO. Nova getting killed on switches in ballscreen action with post-ups vs guards and blow-bys/3s vs bigs on the perimeter. He refused to change up the ballscreen coverage.

Offense doing nothing in the half-court but Gillespie over-dribbling or Robinson-Earl going iso.

Nova was bailed out by Brown/Ramey committing unforced TOs that gave Nova 7 free points when they couldn't generate anything against a set defense.

I forgot David Dejulius who has only played one game with Cincinnati. His stat line is 34 mpg, 8 ppg, 6 rpg, 4 apg. Out of the 3 transfers, this is the one I dont understand at all. He would've been starting at point. Castleton would've probably been starting as well.

I'm still pretty convinced that the DDJ transfer was due to the impression by the team and staff that Josh Christopher was coming to Michigan and that DDJ wasn't gonna get many minutes. That's really the only reason that makes sense since DDJ was basically in line to be the starting PG

I really disagree with Hunter not starting by now. Michigan just loses too much when he's not on the court for him not to be in the game at the beginning.

Davis kills us on Defense and Franz gets a charge every game and then just whines at the refs all the time.

If Juwan is hell bent on starting Davis, it needs to be for the first 3 minutes or so and then bring in Hunter. This 7-8 minutes is ridiculous. Also, Brown should be starting.
