How on earth is PSU ahead of us?
Pat Forde, ESPN.com: A few (thousand) people are bent because I took Georgia ahead of Michigan. This isn't HistoryChannel.com, folks. We're trying to select a modern meritocracy, and Fielding H. Yost isn't around anymore.
-Once again a dig at Michigan from Pat4D
Pat Forde is an asshat.
Pat Forde wishes he were an asshat. He's beneath that.
Stop worrying about what ESPN says and your life will be infinitely better.
Pat Forde holds ESPN. How can ESPN gasp? Can the physicist pale? How can Pat Forde glow inside ESPN?
wtf are they even talking about?
god Sept. 5th can't get here soon enough.
in the long line of ESPN's crap designed with no purpose but to drum up controversey and increase hits, this might be the dumbest thing ESPN had done. this truly has no purpose.
Forde is a complete and utter failure not only as a so-called journalist, but at life in general. He is little more than a verbose troll that feeds off the reactions of others. Ignore him long enough and he'll go away.
The question is, who's more NOW? Cue the T.I. "Big Thangs Poppin"
People are entitled to the opinion, but how is Georgia even ahead of us on a modern scale? Their last NC was in 1980, and since 1983 they have exactly 2 (TWO!!!) conference titles.
Their last Heisman was Herschel Walker.
Not to mention, the highest they got in the polls recently was #2 PRESEASON, and they subsequently shit the bed.
In the words of Peter from Office Space, Forde is a no talent ass clown.
it was Michael Bolton who said "no-talent ass clown". Sorry, couldn't resist. Great points in the rest of the post, though.
Damnit.
Indeed, it was Michael Bolton referring to Michael Bolton.
Thanks.
I did laugh out loud at the Tennessee responses:
Mark Schlabach, ESPN.com: Mr. Maisel is obviously an ambulance chaser. Loves watching train wrecks.
Pat Forde, ESPN.com: You know you just picked a 5-7 team now coached by Lane Kiffin, right?
particularly idiotic comment by Forde that pissed me off...
"Sparty is building off a 9-4 2008 season, A TWO TOUCHDOWN WHIPPING OF MICHIGAN, and consecutive emphatic beatings of Notre Dame."
Are you kidding me? A two touchdown whipping?
Michigan was up a touchdown halfway through the 3rd quarter and MSU never led by more than one score until the waning minutes of the 4th quarter.
Really? A two touchdown whipping? Since when has two touchdowns even been a whipping at all, let alone the fact that MSU never even had a 2 td lead until an insurance td at the end. Pat Forde definitely did not watch this game and is, yet again, baselessly ripping on Michigan.
Wow, dumb statements like this usually don't piss me off because MSU is nothing more than a convocation for UM rejects and/or lifetime UM haters, but that comment was just so moronic it actually set me off.
It's simple. Forde hates Michigan. He sees what he wants to see.
Also what he thinks will be popular and inflamatory.
I think last year's Rose Bowl was a perfect example of a two touchdown whipping.
Penn State 24, USC 38.
It was 31-7 at the half IIRC.
yes, perfect example. Outcome of the game was never in question and PSU was the one tacking on late scores.
Point in case, 2 td wins are rarely whippings, and definitely not in the case of the 2008 msu game. It would only be fair to call it a whipping in a case such as last year's rose bowl, like you said.
Its just so funny how irrational MSU fans/UM haters are. A couple years ago I had an MSU student tell me that he wouldn't consider Michigan's 2006 31-13 victory a blow out (which I disagree with considered it meets the criteria of outcome never in question and MSU putting up the late points to close the gap). However, I can guarantee said MSU student would consider last year's game a "whipping."
Anyway, I digress on the matter, that comment just struck a chord with me and I wanted to discuss it with some of the mgoblog posters.
i might consider Michigan's 14-0 victory over msu in 2000 a two-touchdown whipping. good point, otherwise.
whippings where there is no room for doubt. 49-3 in '02, anyone?
